The National Testing Agency (NTA) has opened a one-time correction window for the Rashtriya Indian Military College Entrance Examination (RIMCEE) 2026. It runs from 9 to 11 October, and candidates who have already applied can change certain details on exams.nta.nic.in/RIMCEE.
The correction schedule is part of the RIMCEE-2026 information bulletin. It says online correction is allowed only in the stated period, and that no request will be entertained once the period is closed. The window is therefore short, and it is also the last one.
Who sits the exam
RIMC, Dehradun, takes students into Class VIII. A candidate should be studying in Class VII or have passed it from a recognised school. For the exam of December 2026, which is for the July 2027 term, the date of birth must fall between 2 July 2013 and 1 January 2015, both inclusive.
NTA's role is limited to receiving applications, running the Stage-I written exam and declaring its result. The college remains responsible for the eligibility, vacancy, reservation and admission criteria, the viva voce, the medical test and the final merit.
The written exam on 6 December
The Stage-I exam is on 6 December 2026 and lasts four and a half hours. It has three papers. English is descriptive and carries 125 marks, with 45 questions to be done in two hours. General Knowledge is objective, 75 questions for 75 marks in one hour. Mathematics is descriptive, 30 questions for 200 marks in an hour and a half. The total is 400 marks.
The paper is bilingual in English and Hindi, except for the English language questions. There is no negative marking. The bulletin also fixes a qualifying minimum of 50 per cent, and candidates should read Chapter 7 to see how it is applied.
Where the course leads
The bulletin explains that cadets spend five years at RIMC and sit the Class 12 CBSE board exam. To join the National Defence Academy at Khadakwasla, they must then clear a written exam conducted by the UPSC and an interview by the Services Selection Board. RIMC runs two terms a year, 17 January to 31 May and 17 July to 30 November.
Admission is decided by merit, state-wise and zone-wise, after the written exam, an interview and a medical test.
Dates after the correction window
NTA will send the city intimation slip 12 to 15 days before the exam, and the admit card can be downloaded five to seven days before it. The result is due by 20 February 2027.
The viva voce is carrying a tentative date of April 2027, four to six weeks after the Stage-I result. It carries 50 marks, and the bulletin says candidates have to score at least half. A medical examination follows for those who qualify in merit.
What can and cannot be changed
The bulletin asks parents to keep their own mobile number and an active email ID, because NTA and RIMC will send all exam communication only by SMS and email. A request to change the mobile number or the email address will not be entertained at any stage, so these cannot be fixed in the correction window either.
If a change alters the fee, an additional fee has to be paid. The bulletin puts the application fee at Rs 1,000 for general candidates, wards of defence personnel and ex-servicemen, and OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates, and Rs 750 for SC and ST candidates. A late fee of Rs 500 applied until 7 October, when applications closed.
At the exam, candidates must carry at least one identity proof along with the admit card, and the bulletin lists the cities that can be chosen, mostly state capitals or larger towns. Parents should check the admit card for the exact centre once it is issued.
Costs, seats and fees
The bulletin says fees at RIMC are heavily subsidised by the Central Government. The first-year total is Rs 1,48,650 for general candidates and Rs 1,31,850 for SC and ST candidates, including a Rs 50,000 security deposit that is refunded when the cadet graduates from the college. Intake is tentatively 25 vacancies for boys and 10 for girls in each term.
