MENLO PARK: Meta used its Connect briefing on 23 September 2026 to widen the AI glasses aisle rather than replace it. The company newsroom lists Ray-Ban Meta Audio as its first camera-free audio glasses, Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) as the next camera-equipped Ray-Ban Meta generation, and Muse as a personal AI agent meant to live on the glasses.

This is a separate product lane from Meta VR Glasses. Audio and Gen 3 stay in the everyday eyewear category built with EssilorLuxottica. India pricing and authorised optical partners are not set out in the same post; dollar tags below are Meta's published US figures.

Ray-Ban Meta Audio: open-ear sound without a camera

Ray-Ban Meta Audio weighs about 43 grams in Meta's materials. There is no camera. The pitch is open-ear music, calls and hands-free Meta AI for up to 12 hours on a charge, with up to another 48 hours from the charging case. Temple tips are professionally adjustable; nose pads can be adjusted or swapped; hinges over-extend for fit.

Styles start with Clubmaster and Burbank across 23 colour and lens combinations, including optical prescriptions. Preorders open from $349, with shipping dated 13 October 2026 in the company note. Call quality gets a specific claim: Meta says the mics capture the wearer's voice more clearly than typical earbuds for outdoor chatter. Buyers should still treat that as a company claim until street-noise testing lands.

Gen 3, Muse and a wider shelf

Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) keeps the camera path - 12 MP stills and 3K Ultra HD video - inside a slimmer frame with up to nine hours of battery, one hour more than Gen 2 on Meta's sheet. A six-mic array is said to cut more than 90 per cent of background noise. A customisable action button jumps straight to Meta AI. Aviator, Zena and Wayfarer styles span 27 colour and lens combinations, with a limited Aviator marking Ray-Ban's 90th anniversary. Gen 3 is listed as available now from $449.

Muse is the agent layer: Meta says it can turn long-term goals into action plans and handle calendar-style tasks hands-free on the glasses. Later in the year, Meta AI glasses are also flagged as the first consumer devices to capture and play back Dolby Atmos with 360-degree spatial sound from the frames.

Around the edges, Meta Glasses add Capri and Nova styles, a LISA collaboration from $399, a Kylie Jenner Ivory colourway, Mix & Match customisation, and a Meta Adventurer plug-in-case option from $249. New market openings include Singapore, South Korea, Mexico and the UAE, with a longer coming-soon list.

For Indian readers the practical filter is narrow: confirm when Ray-Ban Meta Audio and Gen 3 appear on authorised Indian retail and optical channels, what GST-inclusive prices look like, and whether Muse features match the US software build on day one. The Connect text already gives the hardware matrix and dollar floors.

Battery life is the quiet battleground in AI glasses. Twelve hours on Audio and nine on Gen 3 are company figures; heat, always-on listening and prescription lens weight will trim real days. The charging case for Audio is doing a lot of the heavy lifting in Meta's 48-hour accessory claim.

Shoppers in India who already wear Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 should compare temple thickness, mic count and the new action button before assuming Gen 3 is a mandatory upgrade. Audio is the cleaner jump for people who want sound and AI without a camera LED on the frame.
