Car Painter Dies in Sector 77 Hit-and-Run

GURUGRAM: A 27-year-old car painter died after an unidentified vehicle allegedly hit his motorcycle near Privana Society in Sector 77 on Friday night, police said, and Kherki Daula police have registered a case under sections dealing with death by negligence and rash driving.

Nitesh Sahu, a native of Niwadi in Madhya Pradesh, worked at City Space Society in Sector 67 and lived in a rented room in Badshahpur. According to the complaint filed by his father, Hariom Sahu, Nitesh was returning from Kherki Daula village when the collision took place on the DLF corridor near Privana Society around 10 pm.

FIR and search for the vehicle

Passers-by took him to MET Hospital in Rampura, where he died during treatment after suffering serious injuries to his head and neck, the complaint narrative states. Police said they received information about the accident, sent an investigating officer and a constable to the spot, and later learnt at the hospital that Nitesh had died. His body was shifted to the mortuary.

Hariom Sahu approached Kherki Daula police station on 19 September. An FIR was registered under sections 106 and 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. A police officer said efforts were under way to identify the vehicle involved and that the accident spot and available leads were being checked to trace the vehicle and its driver.

The account so far rests on the father's complaint and the preliminary police inquiry. No accused has been named in the available FIR summary, and the vehicle description remains under verification. Allegations of rash driving and negligent death are under investigation and have not been tested in court.

Friday night also saw a separate fatal collision on Shikohpur Road that is being handled as its own case. For families living along the Sector 77 and Badshahpur belt, the practical demand is faster identification of fleeing vehicles through nearby cameras and witness statements. Anyone with footage or information about the Privana Society stretch around 10 pm on Friday has been asked to contact Kherki Daula police.

Hit-and-run probes in the Badshahpur and Sector 77 belt often turn on whether nearby society cameras, fuel-station CCTV or dashcams captured a registration mark in the seconds after impact. Family members said Nitesh had been heading home after work when the collision occurred. Until a vehicle is identified, the FIR will remain against unknown accused under the negligence and rash-driving sections.

Police have not released a confirmed colour, make or partial number for the vehicle in the preliminary account. That silence is common in the first day or two when officers are still collecting clips, but it also frustrates relatives who want a public lookout notice. Officers said the spot inspection and lead checks are continuing. The case remains at the allegation and investigation stage.
