NIOS has issued the theory examination timetable for its October 2026 session, with papers at Indian examination centres beginning on 22 October. The combined Class 10 and Class 12 schedule extends into December, and it includes specific date exceptions for the Gangtok, Dehradun and Prayagraj regional centres.

Notification 63/2026 and the accompanying date sheet were issued on 8 October. The document is available through the official NIOS notifications page. The table is headed for All India examination centres, so learners attending overseas centres should not assume that its timings are their applicable overseas schedule.

Publication of the timetable also needs to be separated from theory hall-ticket availability. When checked at 6:12 am IST on 12 October, the official hall-ticket page carried an October-November heading, but its selection menu offered only the practical-examination hall ticket. The page therefore did not establish that theory hall tickets were ready for download.

Check the subject code and finishing time

For Secondary, or Class 10, Mathematics (211) is listed for 5 November and Science (212) for 6 November. Both run from 2:30 pm to 5 pm. English (202) follows on 12 November, Hindi (201) on 18 November and Social Science (213) on 21 November, each from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

For Senior Secondary, or Class 12, English (302) is scheduled for 28 October and Mathematics (311) for 31 October. Physics (312) is on 2 November, Hindi (301) on 4 November and Biology (314) on 5 November. Chemistry (313) is listed for 17 November. These papers have a 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm examination slot.

The timetable includes many other languages, academic subjects and skill-related papers. Learners should match their registered subject code with the full official table, rather than use these selected dates as a complete personal schedule. A paper's duration must also be checked individually: not every examination lasts three hours.

The combined calendar ends on 7 December with Secondary Sanskrit Sahitya (248). Senior Secondary Gender Studies (340) and Sanskrit Sahitya (348) appear on 5 December, the final date carrying Class 12 papers in the table. Each learner's last examination depends on the subjects they are actually taking.

Regional exceptions and hall-ticket checks

For the Gangtok regional centre, the papers shown against 22 October are assigned to 27 October instead. Those shown against 23 October are assigned to 3 November. These exceptions appear directly beside the dates in the official table and must be read with the corresponding subject entries.

A further exception applies to the Dehradun and Prayagraj regional centres. Papers shown against 20 November are listed for 3 December there. That row includes Senior Secondary Sanskrit (309), and Secondary Economics (214) and Natyakala (285). The note does not move every November examination for those regions.

The date sheet grants learners 15 minutes to read the question paper before the examination begins. It also says candidates who have paid the examination fee and are otherwise eligible do not have to pay anything extra at the examination centre to sit the theory paper.

NIOS directs learners to its hall-ticket portal for the intimation-cum-hall ticket. The live page asks for a 12-digit enrolment number and hall-ticket type. It says download eligibility depends on payment of the October examination fee and a photograph being available with NIOS, and directs learners to their regional centre if a ticket is not generated.

The date sheet describes results as likely seven weeks after the last examination date; it does not announce a fixed results day. Successful learners' marksheet-cum-certificate and migration-cum-transfer certificate will be issued through their accredited institutions. The document separately provides for postal delivery through regional centres where an accredited institution has been cancelled.

Other board-related updates covered by Dalimss News include CBSE's private-candidate application process and its special Class 12 examination timetable for West Asia. Those are separate CBSE processes. NIOS learners should use the NIOS subject table, regional exceptions and their own theory hall ticket when it becomes available for their session.
