NEW DELHI: The MG Comet EV costs between Rs 7,89,800 and Rs 10,16,800 across five variants, according to the price list on JSW MG Motor India's website. Buyers who choose MG's Battery as a Service (BaaS) plan pay from Rs 4.99 lakh for the car, plus Rs 3.2 for every kilometre driven. Price as of 21 October 2026, 12:45 AM IST.
The Comet is a two-door, four-seat electric car built for city use. It has a 17.4 kWh battery, a claimed range of 230 km on a single charge and a turning radius of 4.2 metres, which MG highlights for parking in tight spaces.
MG Comet EV price list, every variant
Executive: Rs 7,89,800, or Rs 4.99 lakh plus Rs 3.2 per km on BaaS.
Excite: Rs 8,99,800, or Rs 6.09 lakh plus Rs 3.2 per km on BaaS.
Excite FC: Rs 9,26,800, or Rs 6.36 lakh plus Rs 3.2 per km on BaaS.
Exclusive: Rs 9,89,800, or Rs 7.09 lakh plus Rs 3.2 per km on BaaS.
Exclusive FC: Rs 10,16,800, or Rs 7.36 lakh plus Rs 3.2 per km on BaaS.
The FC suffix marks the variants with faster AC charging, and it costs Rs 27,000 over the matching non-FC variant in both the Excite and Exclusive trims. The BaaS upfront price is lower by Rs 2,90,800 across all five variants, because the battery is paid for through the per-kilometre charge instead.
Charging times and what each variant adds
Every Comet charges on AC through a Type 2 connector. With a 3.3 kW charger, MG quotes 5.5 hours from 0 to 80% and 7 hours from 0 to 100%. The FC variants support 7.4 kW AC charging, which MG says takes 2.5 hours from 10 to 80% and 3.5 hours from 0 to 100%. There is no DC fast charging on the Comet, so it is best suited to owners who can charge at home or at work.
The motor makes 42 PS and 110 Nm. The battery uses prismatic cells, carries an IP67 rating, and has a warranty of 8 years or 1,20,000 km for the first owner.
The Executive variant gets a full digital instrument cluster with a 17.78 cm screen, power-adjustable mirrors and reverse parking sensors. Moving to the Excite adds the floating twin display with a 26.04 cm touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and MG's i-Smart system with more than 55 connected car features. The Exclusive adds a reverse parking camera. MG's variant list shows Starlight Black interiors on the Executive and Space Grey interiors on the Excite, so the cabin colour also changes as you move up the range. MG lists ABS with EBD, hill hold control, electronic stability control and an electronic parking brake among the safety features.
Outright purchase or BaaS: the running cost question
BaaS lowers the entry price but adds a running charge. At Rs 3.2 per km, a Comet driven 1,000 km a month costs Rs 3,200 a month in battery charges, before electricity. Over a year that is Rs 38,400. At that rate, the Rs 2,90,800 saved upfront is used up in about seven and a half years of driving 1,000 km a month. Owners who drive less will take longer to reach that point, and those who drive more will reach it sooner.
Check the BaaS terms in writing before you sign, including any minimum monthly billing, how the plan is financed and what happens when you sell the car. These details decide whether BaaS works out cheaper for your pattern of use.
Also ask the dealer for a full on-road quote. The figures above are MG's listed prices and do not include insurance, registration or a home charger installation, which can differ from city to city.
