NEW DELHI: Lenovo India refunds a product bought on the Lenovo Store only if it has a hardware failure within 7 calendar days of delivery and Lenovo's authorised service personnel certify the fault, according to Lenovo's terms of sale. A Ready to Ship order can be cancelled within 24 hours of placing it, and a Configured-to-Order laptop cannot be cancelled at all. Terms read on Lenovo's pages, price as of 24 October 2026, 9:10 AM IST: no fee is mentioned for these refunds.
That is a narrower rule than a general 14-day or 30-day return window. The terms of sale describe a refund only for a certified hardware failure, so the first week after delivery is the time to test the laptop properly.
Lenovo India returns and cancellations at a glance
| Situation | What Lenovo India says |
|---|---|
| Hardware failure in the first week | Refund if the failure happens within 7 calendar days of delivery and is certified by authorised service personnel |
| Visible damage, shortage or dead on arrival | Report to Lenovo Customer Service within 24 hours of delivery and refuse damaged or tampered packages at the door |
| Cancelling a Ready to Ship order | Within 24 hours of placing the order, by contacting Customer Service or chat |
| Cancelling a Configured-to-Order order | Not accepted once the order is placed |
| Refund payment | Returned to the original payment account, and may take 7 to 10 working days through third-party gateways |
| Certified Refurbished products | No returns for cosmetic imperfections, and hardware failures within 7 days of delivery go to Customer Service |
What the 24 hour damage rule means
Lenovo's terms say that visible damage, shortages and dead on arrival products must be reported to Customer Service within 24 hours of delivery. If you do not, Lenovo says you are taken to have accepted the package and it will entertain no further claim on that point. Lenovo also says damaged or tampered packages should be refused at delivery.
In practice, open the box on the day it arrives, switch the laptop on and photograph or film any problem before you contact Lenovo. The 7 day refund rule for hardware failure is separate and longer, but it needs certification by Lenovo's authorised service personnel, so you cannot simply return a faulty unit on your own say-so.
Lenovo warranty in India
Lenovo's warranty page says its base warranty applies to Lenovo-branded hardware that you bought for your own use and not for resale. It covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. The warranty period starts on the original purchase date shown on your sales receipt or invoice, unless Lenovo says otherwise in writing.
To get service, you contact Lenovo or an approved service provider. The provider will first try to diagnose the problem by phone, e-mail or remote assistance. Lenovo's terms of sale add that it is not responsible for warranties beyond those that come with the product.
Lenovo Accidental Damage Protection
Accidental Damage Protection, or ADP, covers accidental drops, spills, bumps, structural failures under normal handling, electrical surges and damage to the built-in screen. It excludes cosmetic damage, loss, theft, data loss, intentional damage, removed or altered parts and accessories or third-party products, even if Lenovo sold them.
Lenovo's ADP page says that ADP allows unlimited repairs up to the value of the device, while ADP One allows one repair in the policy term. Lenovo says ADP can be bought with the device or later, but a purchase after the original sale has a 30-day waiting period before a claim. The warranty page adds that some upgrades, including ADP, must be bought within the first 90 days, and that some premium products come with 1 year of ADP as standard, which can be extended to 3 years in total. The two pages quote different time limits, so ask Lenovo to confirm in writing which one applies to your laptop.
Lenovo says warranty upgrades run for up to five years and include Depot, Onsite, Premium Care Support, ADP, Keep Your Drive, Sealed Battery Replacement and Product Exchange, depending on the model. They always start from the hardware's purchase date.
