The same HTX (E) trim costs Rs 2,04,000 more with the 51.4 kWh pack than with the 42 kWh pack, and the HTX costs Rs 2,00,000 more. For that money Kia lists an estimated range of about 490 km on the larger pack against an estimated 404 km on the smaller one, a difference of about 86 km.

The 490 km figure is the ARAI MIDC-Full range quoted for the 51.4 kWh battery. Kia warns that real-life range will be lower depending on speed, load, terrain and use of air conditioning.

The cheapest route to the longer range is the HTX (E) ER at Rs 22,03,900. It costs Rs 4,00,000 more than the entry HTK+, which carries the smaller pack.

Charging and features

Kia lists a fast-charge time of 10 to 80 per cent in 39 minutes. On an 11 kW AC charger, Kia says the 42 kWh battery takes about four hours to charge fully and the 51.4 kWh battery about four hours and 45 minutes. Kia also offers a K-Charge feature in the MyKia app for finding and paying at public chargers.

The HTX (E) trims add a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charger and 64-colour ambient lighting. The HTX trims add ADAS Level 2 with 20 autonomous features. The HTX+ adds vehicle-to-load power for exterior and interior use and a BOSE eight-speaker sound system. The GTX+ and X-LINE add a digital key and a battery heater.
