Illegally Parked Vehicles to be Seized and Towed to Police Lines

VARANASI — In a major push to eliminate chronic road congestion and streamline the city's chaotic traffic flow, the Varanasi Municipal Corporation (VMC), in close coordination with the Varanasi City Police, has launched a strict, zero-tolerance traffic enforcement campaign.
Under this new joint initiative, any two-wheeler or four-wheeler found parked inside a designated 'No Parking Zone' will be immediately hooked, towed away by authorized towing vans, and formally seized by the authorities.
Strict Penalties: No Leniency for Violators
Civic and police officials have explicitly warned that no leniency or spot waivers will be granted during the ongoing drive. Illegally parked vehicles have long been identified by urban planners as a major catalyst for severe bottlenecking across Varanasi's high-footfall commercial zones, narrow arterial lanes, and prime thoroughfares.
Vehicle owners caught violating the restrictions face a stringent retrieval process:
Immediate Seizure: Illegally parked vehicles will be swiftly towed away without warning.
Towed to Police Lines: All confiscated vehicles will be securely impounded at the central Police Lines.
Mandatory Clearance: Owners will only be allowed to reclaim their vehicles after completing extensive legal formalities and paying the full applicable penal fines.
