FIR Against Sector 7 Pizza Staffer Over Rs 3.28 Lakh

GURUGRAM: New Colony police station has registered a case against a former staffer of a Domino's Pizza outlet in Sector 7 over an alleged shortage of Rs 3,28,613 in cash that was supposed to have been deposited in the company's bank account, police said.

The complaint was filed by Abhishek Chauhan, assistant manager, corporate affairs, for Jubilant FoodWorks Limited, which runs the chain in India. The accused, Ved Prakash, worked as senior assistant guest delight manager at Shop No. 9, Old Road, Sector 7. His duties, the complaint says, included handling daily cash collections, tracking corporate expenses, reconciling transactions and seeing that physical cash went into the designated account.

The shortage, Chauhan alleged, surfaced during a routine internal audit and reconciliation at the Sector 7 store. Verification of the books found Rs 3,28,613 unaccounted for — money entrusted to Prakash that, the company says, was neither deposited nor explained. He was asked several times to account for the gap. A show-cause notice went out on 15 January 2026. He did not reply, stopped reporting for duty and could not be traced, the complaint says. An internal inquiry followed. The company concluded there had been a shortage and misconduct, and terminated his services on 28 January 2026. Demands for return of the money came to nothing, after which the firm approached the police.

A company official said Prakash had been given a chance to reply after the audit and, instead of a satisfactory explanation, "simply absconded." The FIR has been registered under Section 316(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with a clerk or servant who commits criminal breach of trust in respect of property entrusted in that professional capacity.

The dates in the file run from a January audit to a late-August police case. That lag is the company's own timeline: show-cause, absence, termination, unrecovered cash, then a complaint at New Colony. Police have a named accused, a store address, a rupee figure and a BNS section. They have not, in the account given with the FIR, announced an arrest. Sector 7's Old Road outlet is a neighbourhood shop, not a cyber cell or a plot scam. The allegation is old-fashioned till money — daily cash that was supposed to hit a bank scroll and did not.

For the investigation, the useful papers are the audit sheets, the 15 January notice, the 28 January termination letter, and the deposit records for the period Prakash handled the till. Until those are tested, the police case is what the complainant has put on record: Rs 3,28,613 missing from a Sector 7 pizza counter, and a former manager who, the company says, walked away from the explanation.
