IIT-BHU to Celebrate First Institute Day Utthaan on June 29

Varanasi, June 26, 2026: IIT-BHU is set to celebrate its first Institute Day, titled Utthaan, on June 29, 2026, with a focus on academic excellence, innovation, research, entrepreneurship and the institute's wider contribution to society.
According to reports, this will be the first such Institute Day celebration in IIT-BHU's history. The event is expected to bring together students, faculty, researchers, alumni, startups, industry representatives and institutional units.
First Institute Day in IIT-BHU's History
Utthaan is being presented as a platform to highlight IIT-BHU's journey, achievements and future priorities. The celebration is expected to recognise academic work, research output, innovation-driven projects and institutional milestones.
The event also comes at a time when Varanasi's higher-education ecosystem is gaining wider attention. IIT-BHU has been active in research, technology development, startup support and collaborations with industry and public institutions.
Innovation and Technology Showcase
A major attraction of the Institute Day will reportedly be an Innovation and Technology Showcase. Reports mention 79 thematic exhibition stalls representing startups, academic departments, centres of excellence, industries and different institutional units.
The showcase is expected to give visitors a closer look at student and faculty-led work, emerging technologies, prototypes, research applications and entrepreneurial initiatives. Such exhibitions can help connect research ideas with users, investors, public agencies and industry partners.
Focus on Research, Startups and Collaboration
The event is expected to underline IIT-BHU's role in promoting innovation-led education. Research and entrepreneurship are increasingly central to engineering and technology institutes, especially as students seek opportunities beyond classroom learning.
For startups and student teams, a public showcase can help build visibility and attract mentorship. For departments and centres, it creates a platform to explain technical work in a way that can be understood by industry and society.
Why the Event Matters for Varanasi's Academic Ecosystem
IIT-BHU is one of Varanasi's most important academic institutions. Its research and innovation activities contribute to the city's identity as an education and technology hub, along with Banaras Hindu University and other institutions in the region.
The first Institute Day may become an annual marker for celebrating progress and setting new goals. For students and researchers, Utthaan could also create a stronger sense of institutional identity and public engagement.
