Flower Shop Owner Found Dead Near Sikanderpur Metro; Police Open Murder Probe

GURUGRAM: Police have registered a murder case after a 35-year-old flower shop owner was found dead inside his shop near Sikanderpur Metro station. Investigators are examining CCTV footage and the circumstances of an alleged argument the previous night, but no suspect has yet been publicly identified or arrested.

The deceased, identified by police as Sanjay, operated the flower outlet near the metro station. His brother Deepak Yadav told investigators that he received a call from a neighbouring shop at around 9am on July 29 informing him that Sanjay had been found unresponsive inside the premises.

When the family and police reached the shop, Sanjay had injuries to his head and hand. A police team secured the scene and called fingerprint and scene-of-crime specialists. The body was sent for the required medical examination, while a case was registered on the complaint submitted by the victim’s brother.

According to the complaint, local people said Sanjay may have argued with an unidentified person at the shop during the previous night. The family suspects that the dispute could be connected to the death. That account is an investigative lead and not yet an established reconstruction of what happened.

DLF Phase 1 police and crime-branch teams are reviewing cameras installed around nearby shops, road approaches and the metro area. Investigators will need to trace the victim’s final movements, identify visitors, examine call records through lawful procedure and determine whether anything was taken from the shop.

The medical findings will be important in establishing the nature, timing and cause of the injuries. Police must also preserve the chain of custody for any object recovered at the scene. Early assumptions about motive can narrow an inquiry too quickly, particularly when the identity of the last visitor remains unknown.

The busy Sikanderpur area may offer multiple camera angles, but footage can be overwritten within days. Officers therefore face a time-sensitive task in collecting recordings from private premises, traffic systems and transport infrastructure. Witness accounts should be recorded independently and cross-checked against the video timeline.

The registration of a murder case marks the start of the criminal investigation, not proof against any individual. Police have said efforts are under way to identify the person seen or reported near the shop. Until forensic, medical and digital evidence is assembled, the cause and motive should remain described as matters under investigation. The victim’s family will also require regular, factual updates that do not compromise the search for evidence or encourage public speculation.
