NEW DELHI: DishTV's Multi-TV service lists a Network Capacity Fee of Rs 50 plus taxes for each additional television connection, with selected pay channels or packs charged separately. The company allows up to three additional connections alongside the primary connection in the same household. The Rs 50 figure is not an all-inclusive monthly channel bill.

Separate capacity from programmes

TRAI's broadcasting FAQ defines NCF as the charge for the subscribed distribution capacity, excluding pay-channel or bouquet subscriptions. DishTV's declaration makes that split explicit for secondary connections. This helps explain why the amount shown against an extra television can exceed the network-fee figure even when it shares the household's main account.

A clear household estimate should therefore keep the secondary connection's capacity fee, chosen pay content and applicable taxes visible. Any equipment or installation quotation belongs alongside those recurring charges. Adding the headline network fee to a family budget without checking the programme selection would leave part of the expected expenditure out.

Choose whether the second screen needs the same pack

DishTV says an additional connection can mirror the primary TV or use a different set of channels and packs. That choice matters in a home where the main television carries a broad family selection while another room is used mainly for regional programmes. Sharing an account does not force every screen to have an identical viewing basket.

Start with what is watched in each room. A room used by visiting family may have different needs from a television used daily. Listing the programmes and languages first gives the person managing the account a concrete channel checklist. It also makes a later change easier to assess without relying on a pack name alone.

The company says all Multi-TV connections share a recharge date and a combined bill. The practical consequence is that the person topping up the account should review the entire household selection. A combined statement simplifies payment, but it should still be examined for the packs attached to each connection.

Check the existing receiver before mirroring HD

DishTV's FAQ says HD content mirrored to an SD box is received only in SD. Copying the main television's pack does not change the capabilities of the receiver in another room. The box type and the intended channel format therefore belong in the review before a household decides to mirror its main connection.

This is particularly relevant when an older receiver has been moved from the living room to a bedroom. The account may now contain different equipment even though the family thinks of it as one service. Keep a record of which receiver serves which screen, along with the channel selection assigned to it.

Pause and fault requests need their own instructions

The Multi-TV FAQ allows a request to temporarily suspend an individual connection through customer care. It also says a child connection can become an individual connection, after a service engineer's verification, if the parent receiver is defective and cannot be repaired. These are service arrangements rather than an automatic promise that a child connection changes status immediately.

For either request, retain the connection details, the requested change and the acknowledgement. If the issue concerns a receiver fault, our TV and projector price guide covers a separate part of the service bill. A pause request and a repair request should describe the intended outcome clearly.
