Comprehensive Traffic Diversions and No-Vehicle Zones Declared in Varanasi

VARANASI, INDIA — In light of a high-profile VVIP visit and a massive influx of devotees expected at the Sant Ravidas Temple in Seer Govardhanpur on the occasion of Guru Purnima, the Varanasi Traffic Police has issued an extensive traffic advisory.

Multiple key thoroughfares across Kashi will be designated as No-Vehicle Zones starting at 1:00 PM and remaining in force until the event concludes. Traffic will be regulated across nearly 40 major intersections, with strict route diversions enforced to facilitate secure VVIP transit and ensure public safety.

Affected Routes and Diversion Points

Traffic restrictions and route diversions will affect vehicular movement across several critical urban and transit corridors during the VVIP convoy movement:

• Key Regulated Corridors: Babatpur, Harahua, Gilat Bazar, Bhojubir, Golghar, Police Lines, Chowkaghat, Teliabagh, Maldahiya, Sigra, Rajghat, Ramnagar, and the Varanasi Cantonment area.

• Commercial & Public Transport Restrictions: Heavy commercial vehicles, auto-rickshaws, and e-rickshaws will face temporary route bans along primary routes leading toward the Lanka and Seer Govardhanpur sectors.

Special Parking Arrangements (P1 to P6)

To manage incoming passenger traffic and vehicles carrying devotees from across Uttar Pradesh and neighboring states, the traffic administration has established specialized parking zones:

• Designated Parking Lots (P1 – P6): All buses, private cars, media vehicles, police, PAC personnel, and public representatives arriving for the Guru Purnima gathering will be directed to specified parking slots based on their entry route.

• Devotee Guidance: Dedicated traffic marshals and police personnel will guide pilgrim buses arriving via the NH-19 and Ring Road directly toward the designated P1–P6 staging grounds.
