Amazon has announced a new range of Alexa Tablets with its Alexa+ assistant built in. There are three models, they are on sale now, and the cheapest starts at $229.99 in the US. Amazon's announcement is dated 8 October 2026, and the prices below are as of 9 October 2026.
Shipping begins on 14 October in the United States, Mexico and Canada. In the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain the tablets start shipping on 19 October. India is not on Amazon's list for these tablets.
The three models and their prices
The Alexa Tablet 12 Pro is the top model. It has a 12 inch display at 280 pixels per inch, a 120Hz refresh rate and a 3:2 shape, in an aluminium body 6.5mm thick. It starts at $499.99 with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. A version with an anti glare Nanomatte display starts at $549.99. Amazon says the chip can be paired with up to 16GB of RAM, and quotes up to 16 hours of video playback.
The Alexa Tablet 11 starts at $329.99 with 8GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It has an 11 inch 2.5K display at 276 pixels per inch, 90Hz scrolling and a 16:10 shape, with dual Dolby Atmos speakers and up to 15 hours of video playback.
The Alexa Tablet 8 is the small one. It has an 8.7 inch display, weighs 329g and is 7.95mm thin. It starts at $229.99 with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, and Amazon quotes up to 14 hours of video playback. Amazon's headline says the range starts at $229, and its price list shows $229.99.
All three run Android with full access to the Google Play Store, alongside Prime Video, Kindle, Audible and Amazon Music. Two accessories are made for the 12 Pro: the Pro Keyboard at $149.99 and the Pro Pen at $89.99.
What Alexa+ adds
Amazon says Alexa+ sits at the core of every tablet. You can say the wake word or tap an Ask Alexa button, and the assistant appears without opening an app. An On-Screen Intelligence feature lets Alexa read what is on the screen and help with it, for example by adding every date on a game schedule to a calendar.
Live sessions allow a continuous, hands free conversation with no wake word between questions. Amazon states that every On-Screen Intelligence feature is off by default and needs a deliberate opt in, and that a visual indicator shows whenever Alexa is active.
Opening a book in the Kindle app switches the tablet into a reading mode with notifications silenced and reduced blue light. Amazon quotes up to 20 hours of battery in that mode.
Kids Tablets
Amazon also announced new Kids Tablets, sold as bundles with a kid proof case and a year of Amazon Kids+. There is an 8.7 inch model starting at $229.99 and an 11 inch model starting at $329.99, each in versions for ages 3+ and 6+. They ship on the same dates in the US, Mexico and Canada, and also in Japan on 14 October, and in the five European countries on 19 October.
The Parent Dashboard comes pre installed and is also a free app for iOS and Android, so parents can manage screen time, content filters and activity from their own phone. After the first year, Kids+ is listed from $7.99 a month for Prime members and $8.99 a month for others.
What about India and the UK?
Amazon has not announced these tablets for India. Alexa+ itself did begin rolling out in India on 16 September 2026 as a free Early Access programme, but that is a software service and is separate from this hardware. Readers in India who want to try Alexa+ can request access through Amazon's India page.
For the UK, Amazon confirms the 19 October shipping date, but the sources checked for this article do not list pounds prices, so none are given here. Check Amazon's UK site before ordering.
These are the first prices Amazon has published, and they can change. If you are comparing, our recent look at the new Kindle range and where it launches and the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and S12+ prices in the US and India may help. This is information, not a recommendation to buy.
