Samsung's new Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+ go on sale on 7 October 2026 in both the United States and India. Samsung unveiled the pair on 30 September, and its US and Indian arms have now each published local prices, which makes it easy to see where the two markets line up and where they part ways.

The prices, as Samsung lists them

In the US, Samsung says the Tab S12 Ultra starts at 1,399.99 dollars and the Tab S12+ at 1,199.99 dollars. In India, the Ultra starts at Rs 1,49,999 for the Wi-Fi model with 12GB of memory and 256GB of storage, and the Tab S12+ starts at Rs 1,29,999 for the same configuration. Prices as of 5 October 2026, 5:30 am IST, from Samsung's own newsroom pages.

The Indian list runs to eight versions. The Ultra costs Rs 1,69,999 with 512GB on Wi-Fi, Rs 1,64,999 for the 5G model with 256GB and Rs 1,84,999 for 5G with 512GB. The Tab S12+ costs Rs 1,49,999 with 512GB on Wi-Fi, Rs 1,44,999 for 5G with 256GB and Rs 1,64,999 for 5G with 512GB.

Keep one thing in mind when comparing. US list prices normally exclude state sales tax, while Indian list prices include GST, so a straight currency conversion overstates the gap a little. Samsung's Pro Keyboard Cover is sold separately in India at Rs 27,999 for the Ultra and Rs 26,499 for the Tab S12+. In the US, Samsung is offering 30 per cent off its Pro Keyboard or Book Cover Keyboard Slim for a limited time with a tablet purchase.

Where the Indian and US models differ

The line-ups are not identical. Samsung's US specification table lists the Ultra with Wi-Fi 7 and a top configuration of 16GB of memory with 1TB of storage. The Indian line-up sticks to 12GB of memory with 256GB or 512GB, but offers the Ultra in both Wi-Fi and 5G versions. Both markets get the Tab S12+ in Wi-Fi and 5G forms, and both tablets take a microSD card of up to 2TB.

The hardware is otherwise shared. The Ultra has a 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen and the Tab S12+ a 12.6-inch one, both running at up to 120Hz with peak brightness of 1,600 nits. Samsung says the Ultra is its thinnest Galaxy Tab so far at 5.1 mm, with the Plus at 5.3 mm, and the Wi-Fi Ultra weighs 692 grams.

Both run on MediaTek's 3nm Dimensity 9500 chip. Samsung claims 61 per cent faster NPU processing, the part that handles AI tasks, 19 per cent faster CPU work and 17 per cent better graphics than the Tab S11 Ultra, figures from its own testing. Battery capacity is 11,600 mAh on the Ultra and 10,600 mAh on the Plus, which Samsung rates at up to 23 and 21 hours of video. It says a full charge takes about 95 minutes with a 45W adapter, and its India product page notes that no charger comes in the box.

Software, apps and how long updates last

The tablets ship with Android 17 and One UI 9, an S Pen in the box and IP68 water and dust resistance. Samsung promises seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates, and its India product page gives 30 September 2033 as the end of security support for the Ultra. Adobe Photoshop comes preloaded, with four months of the Photoshop mobile plan, and buyers get a six-month trial of Google AI Pro. These trials carry their own terms and may renew at a charge.

Samsung India lists launch offers too, including bank cashback and an upgrade bonus of up to Rs 5,000 each, which it says cannot be combined. Check the terms on the official page before relying on any of them. If you are weighing these tablets against a laptop this festive season, our report on Google's new Googlebook laptops, which went on sale in the US from 899 dollars is a useful comparison, and our note on the MacBook Air's India price from Rs 1,49,900 shows where Apple's entry laptop sits against the Ultra.

The One UI 9 software on these tablets is the same version Samsung began rolling out to phones last month, which we covered in our report on the One UI 9 rollout for the Galaxy S26 in India. Sales open in India through Samsung's own stores, partner shops, Samsung.com and other online platforms on 7 October.
