Youth Spends Night at Varanasi Power House in Protest Against Electricity Cuts

A unique protest against frequent electricity cuts was witnessed in Varanasi, where local youth Raghukul Yatharth spent the entire night at the Karaundi Power House carrying his bedding in protest against the ongoing power crisis.
Speaking during the protest, Raghukul Yatharth said that continuous power outages amid the scorching summer heat have badly affected daily life in the city. He claimed that students preparing for exams, shopkeepers, patients, and common residents are all facing serious difficulties because of the irregular electricity supply.
He further alleged that residents are unable to contact electricity department officials for proper updates regarding the duration or reason behind the power cuts, which has increased public frustration.
Criticising the state’s energy management system, Yatharth remarked that if such conditions prevail in the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, then the situation in other districts of the state could be even worse.
He also warned that if electricity services do not improve soon, a larger public agitation would be launched with the support of local residents and youth groups.
The protest has now sparked discussion across local political and social circles, with many residents expressing anger over frequent electricity disruptions during the peak summer season in Kashi.
