Police Commissioner Reviews Pending Cases at Cantt and Rohaniya Stations

Varanasi Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal on Saturday, 19 September 2026, inspected Cantt police station and reviewed pending investigations from Cantt and Rohaniya stations under the Varuna Zone. He told officers to close time-barred probes with quality evidence, tighter supervision and faster disposal, according to the briefing that followed the visit.

The commissioner also placed the stop inside the Police Station Adoption Initiative, which folds crime control, public hearings and staff welfare into regular station reviews. On the technical side, he asked for a clear account of cyber and forensic tools in use — including the Pratibimb App, CCTNS, RTC, ZFD, CDR and IPDR — and pressed for stronger cyber policing habits on the beat.

Women’s safety took a dedicated block. Female officers posted at Mission Shakti Centres were directed to run awareness programmes in schools, hostels and coaching institutes, to hear women’s complaints, and to share helpline numbers 1090, 112 and 1930. They were also told to check CCTV systems at educational institutions often, fix gaps where found, and keep field visits and patrolling in the mix.

For newly recruited constables, Agarwal ordered weekly evaluations and proper beat allotment. Officers handling public hearings were reminded to speak politely, listen fully and push grievances toward real closure rather than token entries. Traffic instructions covered field inspections by station heads and area in-charges, removal of encroachments, easing of congestion and action against violators.

Personnel welfare was not left as a footnote. The commissioner spoke about upgrading mess facilities, serving clean nutritious food, keeping station premises tidy, ensuring drinking water for visitors and maintaining separate toilets for women. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Varuna Zone) Pramod Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Lipi Nagayach, assistant commissioners and other staff were present during the inspection.

Cantt and Rohaniya sit on different edges of the Varuna Zone — one dense with railway and market footfall, the other stretched across waterlogged and peri-urban pockets that have filled crime registers after monsoon weeks. A joint pending-case review at Cantt is therefore an administrative stamp covering both loads, not a claim that either station’s entire docket is cured in a day.
