Varanasi has emerged as the second hottest city in India, with the mercury soaring to 43°C, making life difficult for residents and visitors alike.

The intense heatwave has led to noticeably thinner crowds at the city's famous ghats and temples, as people prefer to stay indoors during peak daytime hours. Streets and public places have also witnessed reduced activity due to the scorching conditions.

According to weather forecasts, there may be some relief on the horizon, with the monsoon expected to become active by June 25, potentially bringing cooler temperatures and much-needed rainfall to the region.
