Varanasi Administration Conducts Route March Ahead of Muharram, Issues Strict Procession Guidelines

Varanasi:Ahead of Muharram, the Varanasi Police and district administration conducted a comprehensive route march from Chowk Police Station to Nai Sadak to review security arrangements and ensure peaceful observance of the occasion.
Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal and District Magistrate S. Rajalingam personally inspected the procession route, including the recently widened Dalmandi area, and interacted with officials deployed on the ground. Authorities have issued clear guidelines for Muharram processions, permitting Taziyas up to a height of 10 feet while imposing a complete ban on DJs and high-volume sound systems.
To strengthen security and maintain law and order, the administration will monitor the processions through CCTV cameras and drone surveillance. Officials have also warned that responsibility for any violation, including the movement of oversized Taziyas, will rest with the concerned organizers and Taziyadars.
The route march was aimed at building confidence among residents, reviewing preparedness, and ensuring that Muharram processions are conducted safely, peacefully, and in accordance with the prescribed guidelines.
