UP Scholarship Applications Open for Classes 9–12; Renewal Window Closes 25 August

The Uttar Pradesh Social Welfare Department opened scholarship applications for students in Classes 9 to 12 on Tuesday, 11 August, beginning a timetable that gives renewal candidates a shorter filing period than first-time applicants.

Students renewing scholarships in Classes 10 and 12 can apply from 11 August to 25 August. Fresh applicants in Classes 9 and 11 have until 21 September. Applications are to be submitted through the state scholarship portal, where candidates must register or sign in using their own details.

The different deadlines matter. A student moving into Class 10 or Class 12 should not assume that the longer September window applies simply because the same portal serves all four classes. Schools will also need to organise verification around the renewal deadline, which is only two weeks away.

The scheme covers eligible students from categories including General, Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Classes and minority communities. Eligibility depends on the rules attached to the relevant scholarship category; opening the portal does not mean every applicant will automatically qualify for payment.

Before student registration began, institutions completed master-data preparation between 22 July and 5 August, followed by verification by district school inspectors up to 9 August. That sequence is intended to ensure that a school, course and other institutional details already exist in the system when a student files an application.

After submission, schools are expected to scrutinise applications and forward eligible cases. District authorities then conduct further checks, while the National Informatics Centre carries out technical validation to identify errors or inconsistencies. A district committee finalises the verified list before money is transferred to approved students.

The announced payment timetable places renewal disbursements between 25 and 31 October 2026. Fresh applicants are expected to receive payments between 25 and 31 January 2027. These are scheduled windows, not a guarantee that an incomplete or unverified application will be paid on those dates.

For families, the sensible approach is to complete the form early and retain the application number, submitted copy and any school acknowledgement. Names, dates of birth, category certificates, bank details and Aadhaar-linked information should be checked carefully before final submission. A mismatch that appears minor on paper can hold up verification across several databases.

Students should use only the official portal and the channels identified by their school or district authorities. Scholarship season regularly attracts calls and messages offering to “correct” applications or accelerate payments for a fee. Login credentials, one-time passwords and bank information should not be shared with such callers.

Schools have a corresponding responsibility to tell students which deadline applies, designate a staff member for verification questions and avoid waiting until the last day to process large batches. Where a document is rejected, the reason should be explained clearly enough for the family to understand whether correction is possible.

The scholarship system also includes post-matric courses beyond school. Fresh registration under the Dashmottar category, covering courses such as graduation, postgraduate study, diplomas and ITIs, is scheduled to run from 15 September to 31 October. That later window should not be confused with the Class 9–12 dates now in force.

For secondary-school applicants, the immediate task is straightforward: identify whether the application is fresh or renewal, confirm the correct deadline, gather the required documents and submit accurate information with enough time left for school-level verification.
