What the on-road gap looks like

Registration, insurance and mandatory accessories add Rs 23,421 to Rs 25,959 to the four smaller RTR models in Delhi. The gap grows on the 310 cc bikes: Rs 32,908 on the RTR 310 and Rs 36,862 on the RR 310, mostly because road tax and insurance scale with the price.

That means a buyer budgeting Rs 1.5 lakh on-road in Delhi can pick any of the RTR 160, RTR 160 4V or RTR 180, while the RTR 200 4V needs about Rs 1.75 lakh.

Which Apache makes sense at each budget

The first three steps of the ladder are small. The RTR 160 4V costs Rs 4,750 more than the two-valve RTR 160 and brings 1.51 PS more, while the RTR 180 is another Rs 5,700 for a larger engine. TVS lists traction control, hazard lamps and LED tail and signal lamps on the latest RTR 160, and a 37 mm upside-down fork with dual-channel ABS on the RTR 160 4V.

The RTR 200 4V is the bigger jump at Rs 22,650 over the RTR 180. TVS lists race-tuned 37 mm USD suspension, a hydroformed handlebar, dual-channel ABS and ride modes on it. Above that, the RTX adventure bike sits Rs 50,760 over the RTR 200 4V, and the RTR 310 is Rs 23,740 above the RTX. The RR 310, with ride modes and throttle-by-wire, costs Rs 39,500 more than the naked RTR 310.

In the 350 to 400 cc bracket, the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 price for every colour starts at Rs 1,37,640 and the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z at Rs 1,86,015 ex-showroom Delhi is the other obvious cross-shop.

Prices differ by city, colour and version, so check the exact figure on the TVS page for your town before booking. TVS does not list any festive discount on the Apache page, so treat any dealer scheme as separate from these prices and get it written into the booking receipt.
