Thousands Celebrate International Yoga Day at Namo Ghat in Varanasi

Varanasi: Thousands of residents gathered at Namo Ghat to celebrate the 12th International Yoga Day, performing yoga asanas and breathing exercises against the peaceful backdrop of the River Ganga.
According to available information, the grand morning session drew people from different age groups and reflected the growing public interest in yoga as a daily wellness practice. Participants gathered along the ghat in the early hours and followed guided movements, stretching routines and breathing exercises.

Former Uttar Pradesh Minister and Southern Varanasi MLA Dr. Neelkanth Tiwari attended the programme as chief guest. Addressing participants, he highlighted yoga as India's priceless gift to the world and stressed its relevance for healthier living.
Varanasi Chief Development Officer Prakhar Kumar Singh also participated in the event. Officials said citizens should make yoga a part of daily life, especially at a time when lifestyle-related stress and health concerns are becoming common in urban communities.
