Six Varanasi Police Stations to Get New Administrative Buildings

Varanasi, June 26, 2026: Six police stations in Varanasi Commissionerate are set to get new administrative buildings as part of an infrastructure modernisation push. The projects are reportedly worth more than Rs 24.73 crore and are expected to improve facilities for both police personnel and citizens visiting the stations.
The police stations covered in the reported construction plan are Shivpur, Phulpur, Lalpur-Pandeypur, Mirzamurad, Baragaon and Rajatalab. Work is being taken forward after financial approval, with different completion timelines for different buildings.
Six Police Stations Under Modernisation
According to reports, the new administrative buildings are intended to replace or upgrade outdated police-station infrastructure. The projects are expected to give the stations more organised office space and better arrangements for public dealing.
Police stations are often the first point of contact for people reporting crime, disputes, missing persons, cyber complaints, traffic-related issues and emergency situations. Better buildings can make the process less difficult for complainants while also giving officers a more functional workplace.
Rs 24.73 Crore Infrastructure Push
The total cost of the six projects has been reported at more than Rs 24.73 crore. Individual amounts have been reported for different stations, including Shivpur, Phulpur, Lalpur-Pandeypur, Mirzamurad, Baragaon and Rajatalab.
The timelines differ across projects. Some works are expected to be completed earlier, while others may take longer. Officials quoted in reports have indicated that the new buildings may be visible in a changed form over the next one to one-and-a-half years.
Better Facilities for Public and Police
The new administrative buildings are expected to include improved spaces for complaint handling, public waiting, office work and specialised policing needs. Reports mention separate arrangements linked to cyber, women-related matters, juvenile issues and other cells, depending on the final plan for each station.
Such facilities matter because a police station must serve different groups at the same time: complainants, witnesses, women, elderly people, children, lawyers, investigating officers and beat staff. A modern building can help create clearer movement, safer spaces and better record handling.
New Police Stations Also Proposed
Reports also say proposals have been sent for new police stations at Akhari, Harahua, Roadways, Bajardiha and Jalhupur. These proposals are linked to the expansion of the city, higher movement of tourists and residents, and the need for better local policing coverage.
For Varanasi, police infrastructure has become increasingly important as the city handles large crowds, religious tourism, growing colonies, highway movement and commercial expansion. The administrative-building projects are therefore not only construction works, but also part of a wider effort to modernise public-facing policing in the Commissionerate.
