Ring, the home security brand owned by Amazon, has announced five new cameras and its first smart lock. The cameras are available to buy or preorder now in the US and a list of other countries. The lock is not for sale yet and is due in the US in early 2027. India is not on any of the availability lists in Ring's announcements.
The details below come from Ring's own announcements on Amazon's newsroom, read on 9 October 2026. Ring has not published prices in them, and tells customers to check their local Amazon website for pricing in their region.
Four new 4K cameras
The main launch is a set of four cameras that use what Ring calls Retinal Vision 4K, a sensor technology it introduced last year. Ring says each has a wide angle view, true colour night performance and flexible power options, from plug in, hardwired and battery to solar and Power over Ethernet.
The Outdoor Cam 4K Plus is the next generation outdoor camera and comes in battery, plug in, hardwired, solar and PoE versions. The Spotlight Cam 4K Plus adds a built in 550 lumen spotlight, and comes in battery, plug in and solar versions. The Floodlight Cam 4K Plus pairs a floodlight with 4K detail and supports 24/7 recording and smart detection.
The fourth, the Indoor Cam 4K, is Ring's first 4K camera made for inside the home. It has a 115 degree field of view, dual band Wi-Fi 6 and a physical privacy shutter.
A pan-tilt camera for indoors
The Pan-Tilt Indoor Cam 2K is aimed at a common problem with fixed cameras, where a pet or a person walks out of the frame. It covers 360 degrees of pan and 175 degrees of tilt, and follows motion automatically. Ring says it uses computer vision based motion detection, records in 2K, and has a privacy shutter that disables both the camera and the microphone when it is closed.
Where you can get them
Ring lists different countries for different models. The Floodlight Cam 4K Plus and Spotlight Cam 4K Plus are open for preorder in the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Ireland, Belgium and Sweden. The Outdoor Cam 4K Plus is open for preorder in the same countries and in Japan.
The Indoor Cam 4K can be bought now in the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Ireland, Belgium and Sweden. The Pan-Tilt Indoor Cam 2K can be bought now in those countries plus Australia and New Zealand.
The Ring Smart Lock
The smart lock is the more unusual product. Ring says it has a power dial built in, so if the battery dies you turn the dial a few times and the lock powers back up, with no backup key or spare battery needed. Jamie Siminoff, Ring's founder and chief inventor, described this as ending what he calls smart lock anxiety.
There are four ways in: a fingerprint reader, a backlit touchscreen keypad, the Ring app, or the Alexa assistant. Owners can set who gets access and when it expires. Ring says the lock stays connected through Amazon Sidewalk, a shared network powered by nearby Amazon devices, so remote locking, status updates and PIN syncing do not rely on home Wi-Fi, and that unlocking happens on the device itself.
It fits a standard single cylinder deadbolt with no extra wiring, and comes in black, silver and brass. Ring says it will be on sale in the US in early 2027. Ring's own notice states the lock has not yet been authorised under the rules of the US Federal Communications Commission and cannot be sold until it is. Amazon Sidewalk coverage also varies by location.
A note on encryption
Alongside the products, Ring announced TAKE, short for Throw Away the Key Encryption. It says TAKE will become the default encryption for all Ring customers worldwide once fully rolled out. Ring has not described the full details in these announcements, so check its pages for specifics.
For readers in India, there is nothing to order yet. If you follow home tech from Amazon, our recent reports on the new Kindle range and its launch countries and the Googlebook, which also skipped India at launch show a similar pattern. This is information, not a recommendation to buy.
