Varanasi News: Rajghat Bridge Repair Delayed Due to Lack of Railway Approval, Work Likely to Begin After Two Days
The much-awaited repair work on the Rajghat Bridge, which connects Varanasi and Chandauli, could not begin as scheduled on Sunday night due to the absence of approval from the Railways. The Public Works Department (PWD) was forced to postpone the work, and the planned night-time traffic diversion was cancelled at the last moment.
Earlier, the traffic department had prepared a detailed diversion plan, restricting vehicular movement on the bridge from 10 PM to 6 AM during the repair period. However, the last-minute delay brought temporary relief to commuters as normal traffic movement continued on the bridge.
Officials have indicated that the repair work may now begin from Tuesday. Following discussions between PWD and railway authorities, a rail block is expected to be taken between 3 AM and 5 AM, during which train movement between Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Nagar Railway Station and Kashi Railway Station may remain affected. Authorities are expected to issue further updates regarding the repair schedule and traffic arrangements.
