Pedestrian Dies After Bike Hit Near Farukhnagar

GURUGRAM: A 55-year-old pedestrian died after a motorcycle allegedly hit him from behind on the road from Bawda village towards Khawaspur in Farukhnagar on Tuesday, police said.

The deceased, Purn Singh, a resident of village Judaula in Farukhnagar, was walking towards Bawda along the service road towards Khawaspur around 7 am on 22 September, according to his son Satyawan. Satyawan told police he learned of the accident around 8:30 am. By then family members had taken Purn Singh to Government Hospital, Sector 10, where doctors declared him dead.

What the family alleged

According to the complaint, Purn Singh's daughter Saroj and his nephew Shiv Kumar reached the accident spot after the collision. They found the motorcycle involved standing there in a damaged condition. The rider allegedly took the motorcycle away while the family moved Purn Singh to hospital, then fled, the complainant said. Satyawan, who works at a hair salon in the city, alleged the rider was driving at high speed and hit his father from behind.

Police said that after being informed, a team reached the spot, then went to Government Hospital, Sector 10, and obtained the medico-legal report. Satyawan submitted a written complaint, after which a case was registered under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Farukhnagar police station.

The motorcycle rider remains unidentified. Removing a damaged bike from a fatal crash scene, if proved, would deepen the hit-and-run character of the case and force investigators to rely on any nearby cameras, witnesses or repair-shop leads. For villages along the Bawda-Khawaspur belt, the service road is a walking route as much as a vehicle lane, which is why morning pedestrian exposure stays high when two-wheelers cut through at speed.

Until the rider is traced, the Farukhnagar FIR and the Sector 10 hospital record are the main official papers. Family members have asked for action against the unknown motorist. Police said the investigation continues.

Satyawan's complaint timeline puts the walk near 7 am and the family's hospital arrival before the medico-legal formalities that afternoon. The allegation that the damaged motorcycle was removed from the scene while relatives focused on getting Purn Singh to Sector 10 is the detail that turns a roadside collision into a flight investigation. Farukhnagar's rural-urban fringe roads often lack continuous camera coverage, so witness memory and any fortuitous private footage become decisive. Officers will also check whether the abandoned-then-removed bike left parts, paint or other trace at the spot.
