NMC opens fresh Eligibility Certificate window from 1 to 7 October for EMRB applicants

The Ethics and Medical Registration Board of the National Medical Commission has opened another chance for candidates who still need an Eligibility Certificate. A public notice dated 30 September 2026, backed by a covering letter from the NMC Secretary, says online applications will run from 10:00 AM on 1 October 2026 to 6:00 PM on 7 October 2026.
EMRB had earlier kept the portal open till 30 September 2026 under a 28 August notice. The Board says it received representations from candidates who could not submit forms because of technical problems. Keeping those career timelines in view, it has allowed a short fresh window rather than leaving applicants stranded between systems.
Who this window is for
The notice is aimed at candidates who still have to obtain an Eligibility Certificate from EMRB. Incomplete applications will not be processed and will be rejected summarily, and EMRB will not take responsibility for forms left unfinished when the portal closes on 7 October.
Applications must go through the National Medical Commission website registration page at application.nmc.org.in/register. The covering letter from Secretary Dr Raghav Langer asks States and Union Territory medical education departments, and the IT division, to circulate the instruction so that eligible students do not miss the dates.
Candidates who already filed a complete application in the earlier window should first check the portal status. Filing a second incomplete form does not speed up a file that is already under scrutiny, and the Board has not asked successful earlier applicants to re-register as a routine step.
How EMRB wants forms filled
Issuance of an Eligibility Certificate involves multiple checks against the regulations in force. EMRB has asked candidates not to wait for the last evening of the window, and to fill every field carefully so that files do not bounce back and forth for deficiency replies.
Applicants should watch both their registered email and the online portal for updates after submission. The Board has not announced a separate paper counter for this round. The process remains fully portal-based for the 1 to 7 October period.
Deputy Secretary Manish Kumar Mittal signed the EMRB public notice on 30 September. The accompanying Secretary-level letter of the same date forwards that notice to ACS and Principal Secretaries of medical education across States and UTs, directors of medical education, and NMC board presidents, which signals that the Commission wants wide dissemination before the portal opens at 10 am on 1 October.
Why the Certificate still matters
For many foreign medical graduates, the Eligibility Certificate is a gatekeeping document before they can sit the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination and move toward registration. A missed upload or a rejected incomplete form can push an entire exam cycle, which is why EMRB framed this as an additional opportunity after technical complaints.
Keep scanned degree transcripts, passport pages and other supporting files ready before 1 October so that the form can be submitted in one sitting. Browser timeouts and partial uploads are exactly the failures the Board cited when it reopened the window.
Candidates who already completed a valid submission earlier should verify status before filing again. For the binding schedule and rejection rule, read the 30 September EMRB public notice on nmc.org.in rather than informal summaries circulating on messaging apps.
