NTA invited applications for NIFT’s 2027 entrance examination on 16 October, opening the admissions process for the next academic session. For regular undergraduate and postgraduate applicants, the application deadline is 16 November 2026, with the entrance test scheduled for 10 January 2027.

The official invitation covers several admission routes, including lateral entry, artisan and doctoral programmes. Applicants should first identify their route rather than assume every candidate follows the same calendar. The regular UG and PG schedule includes a late application facility ending on 21 November, carrying an additional ₹5,000 charge.

Corrections to those applications are scheduled for 22 to 25 November. The notice lists 21 December for advance examination-city information and 4 January for admit cards. General Ability Test components use computers, while the Creative Ability Test is paper-based. The applicable components depend on the programme. The bulletin labels dates tentative; applicants should check updates.

The official application landing page was serving the 2027 UG and PG examination at the time of checking. It displayed separate New Registration and Login options, followed by the application, fee-payment and confirmation stages. Start from the NTA application link when selecting that route.

Check eligibility before choosing a programme

The 2027 admissions guidelines distinguish the two undergraduate qualifications. For the standard school-leaving route, B.Des. accepts a recognised 10+2 qualification, while B F Tech requires Mathematics. The document also sets out diploma and equivalent-qualification routes, so these school-leaving requirements are not the complete list of eligible qualifications.

Undergraduate applicants must be below 24 on 1 August of the admission year, which is 2027 for this intake. The guidelines allow a five-year relaxation for the specified SC, ST and disability categories. Master’s programmes have no age limit, but their academic requirements still apply.

For M.Des. and M.F.M., the listed routes include a recognised undergraduate degree in any discipline or a three-year undergraduate diploma from NIFT or NID. M F Tech has a different qualification list, including B F Tech and B.E./B Tech. Applicants should check their exact award against the relevant programme entry.

The artisan and Ph.D. calendars run separately, with registration continuing to 31 January 2027. Those applicants should use their own schedule and selection requirements rather than the November deadline for regular admissions.

Fees, photographs and proof of submission

The information bulletin lists a ₹2,000 single-programme application fee for Open, Open-EWS and OBC-NCL applicants, and ₹500 for SC, ST, PwD and PwBD applicants. The permitted combinations are B F Tech with B.Des., or M.F.M. with M.Des. For applicants choosing either of these two-programme combinations, the corresponding fees are ₹3,000 and ₹750. Payment-gateway charges apply separately. These are application charges, not the tuition fee for studying at NIFT.

The form requires a live photograph as well as a scanned recent photograph. The scanned photograph must be JPG/JPEG and between 10KB and 200KB; the signature file must be JPG/JPEG and between 10KB and 50KB. The bulletin specifies a 50KB to 300KB PDF for the disability or UDID certificate where applicable.

Successful payment is followed by the confirmation page, which candidates should download and retain. If it does not appear, the bulletin directs applicants to check payment status with the bank or gateway. Where payment succeeded, contact NTA for regeneration of the confirmation page; do not treat an absent page as proof that payment failed.

Understand what the course involves

Choosing between design and technology also means looking beyond the entrance-test label. NIFT’s Fashion Design course description includes drawing and illustration, pattern making, draping, garment construction and surface embellishment. Its learning activities include industry interaction, internships and projects. That provides a more concrete picture of the design route than the course name alone.

The Apparel Production description places greater emphasis on apparel engineering, manufacturing systems, quality assurance, sourcing and supply chains. It also describes laboratory work and industry-linked projects. Reading these separate course outlines alongside the eligibility rules can help applicants understand the academic focus before choosing an application option.

For other education updates, Dalimss News has covered the earlier tentative NTA examination calendar and Samsung’s student innovation competition and incubation plans. The examination-specific notice should take precedence over an earlier planning calendar when preparing an application.
