Motorcycle Catches Fire on Varuna Bridge in Varanasi; Rider Narrowly Escapes Unhurt

VARANASI — A moving Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle suddenly burst into flames on the Varuna Bridge under the jurisdiction of the Cantt Police Station area on Thursday night, causing a brief moments of panic on the busy stretch.
The rider, noticing smoke and sparks mid-journey, managed to jump off the moving vehicle just in time, escaping the incident without any injuries.
Short Circuit Triggers Sudden Blaze
According to initial assessments, the fire is suspected to have been caused by a sudden electrical short circuit within the motorcycle's wiring harness. Within moments of the rider leaping to safety, the fire rapidly engulfed the entire vehicle, reducing the chassis and fuel tank to a blazing wreck on the side of the road.
Prompt Response by Phantom-54 Patrol Unit
Personnel from the local Phantom-54 police patrol unit, who were on routine duty nearby, noticed the commotion and promptly reached the spot. Recognizing the hazard posed by the burning vehicle and its proximity to passing traffic, the officers immediately cordoned off the lane.
The police unit swiftly informed the local fire brigade. A fire tender arrived shortly after and managed to douse the flames, preventing any secondary explosions or further disruption to traffic. The charred remains of the motorcycle were later cleared from the bridge to restore normal vehicle movement.
