Late-Night Shooting in Lalpur Pandeypur: One Arrested After Dispute Over ₹5,000

VARANASI — A violent confrontation broke out in the Lalpur Pandeypur area late Friday night, resulting in a shooting incident that has left the local community on edge. The incident, which centered on a monetary dispute, occurred near the Staff Colony close to Pahariya Mandi.
The Incident
According to a formal complaint filed by the victim, Anis Kumar Gautam, he was at a tea stall outside his residence at approximately 1:40 AM when three individuals arrived on a motorcycle. The group—identified by the victim as Angad Yadav, Anshuman Singh (alias Sanu), and Shailendra Yadav—reportedly began hurling verbal abuses, escalating a pre-existing dispute over an outstanding payment of ₹5,000.
Gautam alleges that during the heated argument, Angad Yadav brandished a firearm and fired two rounds with the explicit intent to kill him. Remarkably, Gautam managed to narrowly escape the shots unharmed.
A Tense Confrontation
The situation took a dramatic turn when the victim, acting in self-defense, retaliated by striking out with a stick. The impact caused the assailant’s weapon to drop to the ground. With the assistance of local bystanders and an individual identified as Sagar Kashyap, the group managed to overpower and apprehend Angad Yadav at the scene.
The other two suspects, Anshuman Singh and Shailendra Yadav, reportedly fled the area on their motorcycle as tensions boiled over.
