Lanka Registers Assault Case After Narottampur Youth Dies During Treatment

Lanka police are treating the death of a Narottampur youth as an assault case after he died during treatment at the Trauma Centre, and two of three men named in the family’s complaint are in custody for questioning.

Vinit Yadav alias Dharmendra Yadav, a resident of Naipura–Narottampur under Lanka police station, was found injured late on Wednesday, 23 September, by the roadside not far from home. A damaged motorcycle lay nearby. Relatives, alerted by people in the area, took him to the Trauma Centre at Banaras Hindu University and told staff it was an accident. He remained under treatment until Friday morning, when he died.

Station Officer Rajkumar Sharma said the family had themselves brought the youth to the Trauma Centre on Wednesday night with an accident account. On Thursday night they submitted a named complaint alleging assault. Police registered a case under assault sections on that tahreer. After the death memo reached the station on Friday morning, officers said murder sections may be added once autopsy and inquiry facts are in.

The complaint names three men, all allegations pending investigation: Mukesh Yadav alias Golu of Naipura; Akash Jaiswal, described as the brother of the Narottampur village pradhan; and Sahil Singh of Narottampur, Lanka. Police say two of the named accused have been taken into custody for questioning. CCTV pulls and further inquiry are under way to fix the sequence between the Ramnagar visit, the roadside find and the fatal injuries.

Vinit was the youngest of four brothers. His father, Pattu Sardar, works with an ara machine. Family members told police he had gone to a friend’s place in Ramnagar on Wednesday evening; how he returned and where the injury occurred is part of the probe. The desk is not repeating unverified party narratives beyond what officers have placed on record.

Hospital death after a roadside injury often starts as an accident entry and turns into a crime case when relatives later name assailants. Lanka’s file is in that middle stretch: assault sections on paper, custody for two, autopsy pending, and a possible enhancement if medical opinion supports it. None of that is a finding of guilt.

All assault and any later murder allegations remain to be tested. Custody for questioning is not a conviction. Lanka police have the body under legal process for autopsy and will decide on section enhancement from the medical and scene evidence. Neighbours and readers should treat the three names as accused in a pending case, nothing more, until a court decides. Anyone with CCTV covering the Naipura–Narottampur stretch on Wednesday night has been asked by officers to preserve the footage for the inquiry.
