Krea University lists October 20 as the opening date for applications to its January 2027 PhD intake at the School of Interwoven Arts and Sciences. The official schedule gives November 15 as the application deadline. The dates are tentative. This is a preview of the scheduled round; the page does not state when it was first announced.

The assessment is scheduled for the first week of December, interviews for the second week and results for the third. Registration, orientation and classes are listed for the second week of January. Interview arrangements will be communicated to shortlisted applicants. Related coverage: IIT Delhi research admissions and IIT Kanpur’s January intake.

Eligibility and the study commitment

The eligibility page sets an age ceiling of 30 for full-time applicants. It lists a relevant postgraduate qualification or a four-year undergraduate degree from a UGC-recognised institution. Its marks rule specifies at least 55 per cent at Class 12, undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with a five-percentage-point relaxation for the listed reserved categories. The webpage does not separately explain how that postgraduate marks wording applies to the four-year undergraduate entry route.

Part-time and Faculty Improvement Programme applicants must be 50 or younger, hold a relevant postgraduate degree, meet the listed 55 per cent marks requirement and have three years of work experience, including probation. An employer’s no-objection certificate is required. These conditions differ from the full-time route, so applicants should identify their study category before checking eligibility.

The selection process includes screening, the university’s research eligibility assessment where applicable, shortlisting and interview for full-time study. Other recognised test scores must be valid. The part-time process lists screening and a personal interview. Mathematics and psychology have linked syllabi; several other subjects follow UGC-prescribed master’s-level curricula.

The programme description also makes residence a practical consideration. Full-time scholars are expected to live on campus during terms. Part-time scholars must stay for the first term and return when their adviser and Doctoral Committee require it. A part-time place therefore should not be read as a promise of wholly remote study. For someone continuing in employment, the initial stay and later visits are obligations to account for alongside the employer’s permission.

Coursework, appointment of advisers, formation of a Doctoral Committee and development of a research problem feature in the first two years. The committee reviews progress annually, and candidacy requires the prescribed coursework and research-proposal approvals within its stipulated period. Full-time scholars must also assist with two courses each academic year from their second year. These are continuing academic duties after selection, rather than additional entrance-test stages.

Fees and fellowship limits

The fee page lists an annual fee of Rs 6,000 for full-time study and Rs 1 lakh for part-time or Faculty Improvement Programme study (price as of 19 October 2026, 3:37 am IST). It lists Rs 500 as the non-refundable application/admission fee and a refundable Rs 25,000 security deposit. The Rs 5,000 acceptance fee is adjusted against that deposit, rather than being described as another deposit on top of it.

Living costs are listed separately. Full-time hostel accommodation is Rs 7,500 a month, subject to revision; the page currently quotes dining at Rs 5,400 a month, while saying dining and medical insurance are charged at rates prevailing on admission. It also lists Rs 5,000 for dissertation submission and Rs 10,000 per term from the sixth year. The annual academic fee alone is therefore not the total cost of attendance.

Krea’s separate fellowship policy lists Rs 50,000 a month in each of the first two years for full-time PhD scholars and Rs 52,000 a month thereafter. Funding is offered for four years. A fifth year requires the Doctoral Committee’s recommendation and the Dean of Research’s approval, so the fifth-year amount in the table is conditional. The policy permits up to eight years to complete the degree but says fellowship and permission to remain on campus will not extend beyond the fifth year. Applicants should distinguish the maximum completion period from the funded period.
