Kashi Zone Shifts In-Charges of Mahmoorganj, Lahurabir, Assi, Nagwa and Sonia Posts

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Kashi Zone) Gaurav Banswal on Saturday, 19 September 2026, reassigned the in-charges of five high-footfall chowkis — Mahmoorganj, Lahurabir, Assi, Nagwa and Sonia — as part of a six-officer shuffle meant to tighten law-and-order and administrative handling in the zone. Three of the sub-inspectors moved against vacant posts; three others were adjusted across existing charges. The orders were to take effect immediately.
Under the new line-up, Vikalp Shandilya shifts from Lahurabir chowki in-charge to Mahmoorganj. Naveen Chaturvedi moves from Assi to Nagwa. Abhishek Singh goes from Nagwa to Assi, completing a direct swap on that southern pair. Vivek Singh leaves Sonia for Lahurabir. Saurabh Shahi, earlier at Chowk police station, takes charge of Sonia chowki. Anuj Singh, who held Mahmoorganj, is transferred to Laxa police station.
Assi, Nagwa and Sonia sit on the student-and-tourist southern arc where evening crowding, traffic pinch points and petty-crime complaints travel together. Mahmoorganj and Lahurabir cover denser market and crossing loads closer to the city’s middle belt. Moving in-charges across that map is a routine commissionerate tool; this desk does not invent a crime-spike chart that the transfer order itself does not publish.
DCP Banswal’s note frames the changes as an efficiency and public-order step rather than a punitive sweep. No officer in the list is described here as suspended or chargesheeted. The public record for Sunday morning is simply who now holds which chowki key, and that Laxa station receives Anuj Singh from the Mahmoorganj post.
For residents who file night complaints at Assi or Nagwa, the practical change is a new face behind the chowki desk and whatever beat reshuffle follows. For Sonia and Lahurabir, the same applies. Transfer copy rarely changes a city’s crime graph overnight; it does reset supervision lines that ACPs and the DCP will review in the coming weeks.
Readers should treat the six names and five chowkis as the verified core. Secondary colour about “transfer express” metaphors adds little once the posting table is clear. Immediate effect means Sunday’s duty charts at those posts should already show the new in-charges unless a later corrigendum appears — none is on this desk’s file at the time of writing.
Kashi Zone’s Saturday stamp is therefore administrative and narrow: DCP Gaurav Banswal reassigned six sub-inspectors, resetting charge at Mahmoorganj, Lahurabir, Assi, Nagwa and Sonia, with Anuj Singh moved to Laxa. How the new in-charges handle hearings, traffic and night patrols will be visible only in the fortnight’s station diaries, not in the transfer order itself.
Station diaries over the next two weeks will show whether the new Assi–Nagwa pair and the Mahmoorganj–Lahurabir–Sonia resets change hearing queues or night patrol patterns. Until those diaries are public, the only hard facts are the six names, the five chowkis, the Laxa posting and the DCP’s immediate-effect order dated 19 September.
