HSNCB Holds Nigerian Man With 15g MDMA

GURUGRAM: The Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau on Thursday arrested a Nigerian national near Sai Temple in Sector 53 and recovered 15.04 grams of MDMA, commonly called ecstasy, police said.

Accused Udeh Frank, listed as a resident of Lagos, was intercepted after he arrived near the temple on what investigators described as a delivery run, based on specific inputs. An HSNCB team searched him in the presence of a gazetted officer. A white plastic pouch containing the psychotropic substance was allegedly recovered from his trouser pocket. He could not produce a valid licence or permit for possession of the drug. The presence of a gazetted officer at the search is a standard NDPS safeguard meant to reduce later challenges over how the pouch was found and sealed.

NDPS case at Sector 53

A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at Sector 53 police station. Officials framed the arrest as part of the HSNCB Gurugram Unit's ongoing drive against synthetic drugs. On 9 September, the same unit had recovered MDMA or ecstasy pills in a separate case, which officers cite when they say the Sector 53 interception is not an isolated tip but part of a continuing watch on ecstasy supply lines.

Synthetic consignments moving in small pouches are hard to spot without tip-offs, which is why the bureau leaned on prior intelligence for the Sector 53 stop. Quantity alone does not decide every NDPS outcome, but 15.04 grams is enough to put the seizure on the public briefing list and to start the chain-of-custody paperwork that follows a gazetted-officer search. Investigators will send samples for forensic confirmation and seek remand as the file moves from arrest to charge.

Frank remains in custody of the investigating unit as those steps proceed. For the Sector 53 belt, the Sai Temple interception is another marker that HSNCB is treating ecstasy trafficking as a continuing local target rather than a one-off raid. Residents near the temple and adjoining commercial stretches may see more discreet surveillance and stop-and-search activity while the unit follows leads from the Thursday recovery.

HSNCB's Gurugram Unit has been treating synthetic drugs as a parallel track to traditional narcotics work, with ecstasy pills appearing in more than one September recovery. The Thursday arrest near Sai Temple fits that pattern: a tip, a gazetted-officer search, a sealed pouch, and an NDPS case at the local police station. What happens next depends on forensic confirmation of the 15.04 grams and on whether Frank names any upstream supplier during interrogation.
