Police Wound Chain-Snatch Accused After Hariharpur Firing, Shivpur Says

Shivpur police wounded a chain-snatch accused after he opened fire on a team near Hariharpur chauraha late Thursday night, the station said, and listed recovery of a stolen gold chain, an illegal firearm, a spent cartridge and a Pulsar they tied to a 24 August loot in Baralalpur. No policeman was injured, Shivpur station house officer Ajit Kumar Verma said.
The incident, on the police account, was around 11 pm on Thursday, 27 August 2026, near Hariharpur chauraha under Shivpur police station. Acting on information, a team led by the SHO, with Chandmari chowki in-charge Aamir Bahadur Singh and Sub-Inspector Vidyasagar, surrounded the man. Police said he fired on them first. Officers returned fire and wounded him. He was taken to hospital. His condition was under doctors. The station did not name the hospital.
Police identified the wounded man as Shashi Bhushan, son of Lakshmi Narayan, of Tar Bangla Bijli Colony under Dehri police station in Rohtas district, Bihar.
The 24 August case they attached to Thursday night is a loot at Khushhal Nagar, Baralalpur, in which Priya Singh was pushed, suffered a head injury and had a gold chain snatched. After the firing, police said they recovered that stolen gold chain, along with an illegal firearm, a spent cartridge and the Pulsar used in the crime.
Associates from the 24 August loot were still being identified, Shivpur police said. The accused’s past record was being checked.
This is a police-account firing. The sequence Verma’s station put out is information, surround, the accused fires, police return fire, the accused is wounded, no officer is hurt. Calibre, number of rounds and the hospital were not in that briefing. The station did not supply them.
Hariharpur chauraha is on Shivpur’s map. Chandmari chowki works the same belt. That is why the chowki in-charge and the SI were named with the SHO on the team that closed in around 11 pm. Khushhal Nagar, Baralalpur, is the 24 August scene. Priya Singh’s head injury and the snatched chain are the predicate facts on that file. A recovery list after Thursday night — chain, illegal firearm, spent cartridge, Pulsar — is what police catalogued. It is not a court’s finding on who pushed Priya Singh three days earlier.
Shashi Bhushan, on the station’s identification, is a Rohtas resident. He was hospitalised after the return fire. Police described his condition only as under doctors. No ward, no injury note and no discharge plan were released with the names. Until the station names a hospital, the public record stops at hospitalised and under doctors.
The 24 August associates had not been named in the same briefing. Police said identification work was on. Until those names are on a charge sheet, Thursday’s public facts stop at the wounded man, the team, the place, the time and the listed recoveries.
Shivpur police said they wounded Shashi Bhushan near Hariharpur chauraha around 11 pm Thursday after, on their account, he fired on the team first. They listed the stolen gold chain, an illegal firearm, a spent cartridge and a Pulsar among recoveries, and said no policeman was hurt.
