FIR After Month in Golf Course Road Rage Case

GURUGRAM: Sector 56 police registered an FIR on Tuesday in a Golf Course Road road-rage complaint that a woman says she first tried to lodge nearly a month earlier, after a Scorpio driver allegedly rammed her car and smashed a headlight near AIT Chowk.

Khushboo Verma, 28, who works with a private company in the city, said that on 27 August around 10 pm she was travelling with her mother, Pooja Verma, 51, in a Maruti Swift toward a nearby fuel station. She alleged that a Mahindra Scorpio N with temporary registration number T01250L04558 stopped ahead at a signal, then suddenly banged into her car from the left after she honked, overtook her, forced her to stop, abused both women, smashed the Swift's headlight with an iron rod, and sped away. She said the entire sequence was on her dashcam.

Complaint, alleged delay, and FIR

Khushboo said she called the police control room and a team reached the spot but asked her to go to Sector 56 police station to lodge a complaint, without viewing the footage there. She alleged that she submitted a complaint the same night and visited the station multiple times, was told the investigating officer had gone home for Rakshabandhan, and later heard that the temporary registration made tracing hard. She said that first complaint was closed without informing her. On 21 September her mother filed a second complaint, after which police lodged an FIR, still without identifying the accused, she said.

The FIR at Sector 56 police station cites Sections 125 (act endangering human life or personal safety), 281 (rash driving) and 324(4) (mischief causing damage to property) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The SHO of Sector 56 police station did not respond to a query on the alleged delay in the account relied on for this report. The accused remains unidentified. CCTV at AIT Chowk was mentioned by the complainant as an unused lead.

All assault and inaction claims above are allegations under investigation or dispute until tested in the probe and courts. A separate, widely shared road-rage case on the same corridor on 13 September, involving superbike rider Shivani Chauhan, later saw arrests after dashcam footage circulated. That earlier episode is noted here only as timeline context for why Golf Course Road dashcam complaints are under sharper public watch. For Verma's August incident, the Tuesday FIR is the first formal case paper after the second complaint; identification of the Scorpio driver is still pending.
