Gay Lord Ice Cream Voted Varanasi's Favourite in Online Poll

Varanasi’s love for its homegrown flavours remains as strong as ever. Gaylord Ice Cream was voted the city’s favourite local ice cream brand in an online poll conducted through the Dalimss News Banaras Instagram story a few months ago.

The poll featured several popular names from the city’s dessert market, including Rita Ice Cream, Giani’s, Kwality Wall’s and Baskin Robbins. Despite facing competition from established national chains and other well-known local favourites, Gaylord received the highest number of votes from participating followers.

For generations of residents, Gaylord has remained closely associated with ice cream outings, family celebrations and evenings spent exploring the markets of Banaras. Its victory in the poll reflects not only the popularity of its flavours but also the emotional connection that many residents share with the brand.

While international and national ice cream chains have expanded their presence across Varanasi in recent years, the poll result indicates that legacy establishments continue to enjoy a special place in the hearts of local consumers.

The result also highlights a wider trend across the city: when given a choice, residents of Varanasi often continue to support familiar local names that have become part of the city’s cultural and culinary identity.

The Instagram poll represented the preferences of participating Dalimss News Banaras followers and was not a scientific citywide survey. Nevertheless, Gaylord’s strong showing reaffirmed its status as one of the most recognised and loved ice cream brands in Varanasi.
