Watch9 or Watch8?

The two generations have identical listed prices for each size and connectivity, but the store discount is much bigger on the older model. The Watch8 sells for Rs 6,000 below its listed price, while the Watch9 is only Rs 1,000 below. In practice, every Watch8 version costs Rs 5,000 less than the matching Watch9.

Buyers who do not need the newest features can save that Rs 5,000 with the Watch8. Those who want the latest model can pay the extra for the Watch9. Samsung's product pages do not state how long each model will receive software updates, so ask the retailer or check Samsung's support pages before choosing.

What size and LTE cost

On both the Watch8 and Watch9, moving from 40mm to 44mm adds Rs 3,000, and LTE adds Rs 4,000 at either size. LTE lets the watch make calls and use data without the phone nearby, which suits runners and people who leave the phone at home. On the Watch8 Classic, LTE also adds Rs 4,000.

One oddity on the store: the larger 47mm Watch6 Classic costs Rs 3,000 less than the 43mm version, because only the 47mm model carries a store discount at the time of this check.

Where the store cuts are biggest

The Watch8 Classic carries the largest cut in rupees: Rs 8,000 off the Bluetooth version and Rs 9,000 off the LTE version. The Buds4 Pro sells for Rs 7,000 below its listed price, the Watch6 Classic 47mm for Rs 6,000 below, and the Watch Ultra2 and Buds3 FE for Rs 5,000 and Rs 2,000 below. The Watch9 has the smallest cut, at Rs 1,000 on every version. Every watch and earbud listed here was shown as in stock on Samsung's pages at the time of this check, though stock can change by colour and size.

Which to buy

The cheapest route into Samsung's watch range is the Watch8 40mm Bluetooth at Rs 32,999. The Watch8 Classic starts at Rs 46,999, and the Ultra2 at Rs 64,999 is the most expensive watch on the store. For earbuds, the Buds3 FE at Rs 12,999 costs Rs 10,000 less than the Buds4 Pro.
