Samsung's Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G share a security-support deadline of 31 March 2032 on their India specification pages. Choosing the A57 does not extend that published end date.

These are established models, not October launches. Samsung's India announcement is dated 26 March 2026. This comparison checks their ownership differences against official information available on 16 October, with particular attention to the support clock, SIM choices and repair conditions.

The update clock has already started

The original announcement promises up to six Android OS and One UI generations, alongside up to six years of security updates. Its footnote counts support from the first global launch. Buying an unopened handset later does not restart that clock. OS generations describe major software upgrades; the security period describes how long vulnerability fixes are supported. Neither should be read as six fresh years from the shop invoice.

The date on the A57 India specification page and the A37 India page leaves roughly five years and five months from mid-October 2026. That is a calendar calculation, not a separate Samsung promise. Someone planning to retain a phone into late 2032 should recognise that the published security window ends before then.

Frequency needs a separate check. Samsung's current security-update scope places the A37 5G in its quarterly group. The A57 5G appears in the monthly group under the heading Enterprise Models. That qualification matters: this listing alone should not be presented as proof that every Indian retail A57 variant receives monthly patches.

Samsung also says model lists can change, delivery varies by region and model, and some carriers may support quarterly updates even for listed monthly devices. A long support term and a fixed monthly delivery guarantee are different things. Buyers who need a particular patch schedule for work should check the exact model with their employer and Samsung before ordering, rather than rely on the headline number of years.

SIM support is a practical difference

The Indian A57 specification supports two physical SIMs, a physical SIM with an eSIM, or dual eSIM use. This matters if an existing number uses eSIM. Confirm the intended operator arrangement before moving a number.

The A37 India specification lists two nano-SIM slots and no eSIM option. It suits physical SIM use; do not assume it handles an eSIM-only arrangement. Check the local model rather than an overseas listing.

Samsung's announcement also identifies tangible hardware differences. The A57 weighs 179g and measures 6.9mm thick; the A37 is 196g and 7.4mm. Both have 6.7-inch FHD+ displays at up to 120Hz, while the A57 uses a Super AMOLED Plus panel and the A37 Super AMOLED. The ultrawide camera is 12MP on the A57 and 8MP on the A37. Those are specifications, not evidence from a comparative camera or performance test.

Both specifications list USB 2.0 and no Samsung DeX support. If DeX is a requirement, neither meets it. The higher model number does not change those listed limitations.

Software support is not a repair warranty

Samsung's India warranty page lists 12 months for the handset and 12 months for the in-box battery. Other in-box accessories have six months. Proof of purchase is required for a warranty claim, and handset repairs are handled at authorised service centres. These are separate terms from software support: an update commitment does not make later hardware repairs free.

The warranty terms also exclude normal wear and tear, including batteries and displays. A buyer intending to keep either phone for several years should therefore preserve the invoice and budget for possible paid repairs. Do not treat the battery's warranty duration as a promise that capacity will remain unchanged throughout the phone's software-support window. Samsung also limits service to the country where the device was first sold. For an imported handset, its terms advise checking with an authorised centre whether local repair is possible. Overseas stock therefore needs a service check as well as a specification check.

A repair quote needs more than a parts figure. Samsung's India spare-parts page says listed prices exclude GST, labour and other repair consumables. The service centre confirms the exact charge after diagnosis. The page also says displayed prices use premium colours and maximum storage configurations, with the specific model's price confirmed at repair. A screenshot of a part price is therefore not a complete ownership-cost estimate.

For a long-term comparison, ask for the exact model's battery and display repair estimate, including taxes and labour, and check the nearest service option. A cheaper initial purchase can lose some of its advantage if a later repair is expensive. No model-specific repair total is quoted here because the opened parts page did not establish one for either phone. If a retailer offers an extended protection package, ask for its separate terms and any claim charges before adding it to the purchase.

How to compare the final offers

A verified current checkout price for matching storage variants was not available in our checks, so this is not a lowest-price or discount ranking. Before paying, compare the same RAM and storage, ask whether the displayed reduction requires an eligible card or exchange, and check the amount payable without those conditions. Write down the final quote rather than relying on a launch-price comparison.

For the choice itself, identify the feature you would actually use before accepting a price gap. Keep your support end date separate from your repair budget, and try the handset in a shop if weight or grip matters.
