Early Childhood Educator Shivani Kapoor Conducts Groundbreaking Foundational-Stage Training Session at Dalimss Sunbeam School

Foundational stage teachers and coordinators from across the Dalimss Sunbeam Group of Schools attended an intensive professional development workshop at Dalimss Sunbeam School, Rohania.

The session was conducted by early childhood educator and teacher trainer Ms. Shivani Kapoor, who shared practical methods for making classrooms more engaging, interactive and responsive to the needs of young children.

Teachers from Dalimss Sunbeam schools in Rohania, Sigra, Ramkatora, Mehmoorganj and Paharia (Sarnath) participated in the programme. They were joined by educators from associate schools in Dildarnagar, Rampur and Jaunpur.

Also present were Rohania Principal Mrs Gurmeet Kaur, Dean of Academics and Quality Assurance Mr Subhodip Dey, and Additional Director of the Dalimss Sunbeam Group of Schools Ms. Fizaa Madhok.

The workshop covered classroom innovation, child friendly classroom environment, practical classroom strategies, teacher conduct, circle time, storytelling, music and movement, child psychology, behaviour management.

Ms. Shivani Kapoor encouraged teachers to view the classroom from a child’s perspective. She spoke about how the arrangement of learning materials, visual aids and movement spaces can influence curiosity, confidence and participation. Innovation, she explained, does not always require expensive equipment. Even small changes in storytelling, questioning, routines and classroom activities can make learning more meaningful.

Circle time was discussed as an important space for conversation, songs, stories and group interaction. Such activities can help children develop confidence, communication skills, listening habits and emotional awareness.

The training also placed strong emphasis on teacher conduct. Kapoor spoke about how a teacher’s tone, expressions and response to mistakes can shape a child’s classroom experience. Participants discussed ways of handling behaviour with patience and consistency, along with the importance of constructive communication with parents while addressing behavioural or developmental concerns.

Music, movement and storytelling were presented not simply as recreational activities, but as useful tools for improving language, memory, coordination and social development.

Teachers were also encouraged to educate beyond the prescribed curriculum by giving equal attention to curiosity, empathy, independence and everyday life skills. Play, observation, conversation and real life experiences, the session underlined, can be valuable opportunities for learning.

The workshop gave educators from different Dalimss Sunbeam branches an opportunity to exchange classroom experiences and discuss common challenges. It also reinforced the idea that the foundational years are not merely preparation for higher classes, but the stage at which children begin forming their confidence, habits and lifelong attitude towards learning.
