DTCP Razes Illegal Colonies Across 14 Acres

GURUGRAM: Two illegal colonies spread across nearly 14 acres in Sultanpur village and an unauthorised market in Alimuddinpur were demolished on Friday by a Department of Town and Country Planning enforcement team, assisted by Farukhnagar police.

Officials said the drive was aimed at preventing further plotting and construction where colonies had been developed without the required approvals. In Sultanpur, the team demolished 30 demarcation and plinth-level structures and nearly 600 running metres of boundary walls. It also demolished an interlocking road network measuring around 400 metres that had been laid inside the unauthorised colonies. Officials said such infrastructure was being created to facilitate further development and plotting.

Apart from the colony-related violations, the enforcement team took action against an under-construction farmhouse in Sultanpur. The unauthorised construction at that site was demolished during the same drive. The department said removal of roads, boundary walls and other infrastructure was necessary to check the expansion of unauthorised colonies and to discourage people from buying plots or building further in such areas.

Alimuddinpur market and continuing watch

The drive was later extended to the revenue estate of Alimuddinpur village, where the team targeted an unauthorised commercial market near Birhera Mor. Illegal commercial structures raised at the site were demolished. Officials warned that construction and development without requisite approvals could invite enforcement action.

District Town Planner (enforcement) Amit Madholia said action against unauthorised colonies and illegal construction would continue. The department is also keeping a watch on areas where unauthorised plotting and construction are under way, especially in revenue estates outside approved or licensed development zones.

For buyers eyeing cheap plots beyond licensed sectors, Friday's numbers are a direct warning: plinths, boundary walls and even internal roads can be taken down once DTCP and local police move together. The 14-acre footprint in Sultanpur, plus the Birhera Mor market clearance, shows the drive was not limited to a single pocket. Madholia's public line is that enforcement will keep returning to the same class of violation rather than treating one Friday as a one-off.

Unauthorised colonies often sell the look of a finished neighbourhood, walls, roads and plinths, before licences exist. Clearing that infrastructure early is how the department tries to stop the next round of sales. Residents and plot seekers in the Farrukhnagar belt will watch whether follow-up surveys hit other revenue estates with the same pattern of unapproved roads and boundary work.

Officials said similar unapproved road and wall work in other Farrukhnagar-side estates remains under watch.
