Chitaipur Arrests Two After Homeguard Anuradha Tiwari’s Alleged Suicide

Chitaipur police have arrested two people after a woman homeguard was found dead in her Nevada flat, registering the case on a complaint that alleges abetment of suicide.

Anuradha Tiwari, 35, a homeguard posted at Chitaipur, was found hanging in a first-floor room at Hanumat Kripa Apartment in Nevada late on Wednesday night, police said. Her son discovered her and cut the rope. Chowki in-charge Aditya Mishra reached the spot; a forensic team collected evidence. Her husband, Dhananjay Tiwari, also a homeguard, had died about three years earlier, after which she received a compassionate appointment.

On the tahreer of her mother-in-law, Chandravati Tiwari, police named Ajay Pandey and Anjali. Station Officer Rakesh Gautam said both were arrested on Thursday and sent to jail. Ajay Pandey, about 41, is a pharmacist who runs a medicine company and lives in the Sarnath area; he is originally from Naraina under Naraini police station in Banda and has worked in Varanasi since around 2012. Anjali, also referred to as Anjali Singh in some police briefings, has worked at his company for about a year; she is from Bokaro in Jharkhand and had been living on rent in Mahmoorganj.

The complaint alleges — and these remain allegations — that after Anuradha’s husband’s death she came into contact with Ajay Pandey, that a marriage promise was made, that his association with Anjali led to a dispute, and that money including loan and departmental dues was misused. A WhatsApp message left on a second phone is part of the police paper. None of that has been proved in court. Abetment of suicide is a serious charge that turns on evidence of instigation, not on neighbourhood talk.

Police have not released a full chargesheet timeline in this brief’s window. Family in-laws from the Assi side are part of the wider household map, but the case as registered runs from the Nevada flat through Chitaipur’s diary.
