GURUGRAM: The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram House on 1 October elected Ward 27 councillor Ashish Gupta unopposed as a member of the Finance and Contracts Committee, filling the vacancy left when Deputy Mayor Anoop Singh stepped down from the councillor-member seat after taking the deputy mayor's chair.

The election was unanimous. No other nomination stayed in the fray once the House took up the F&CC vacancy that had been flagged for an October 1 poll after Singh's resignation from the panel. Gupta now sits on the committee that clears major contracts and financial proposals for the corporation.

In the same sitting, the House cleared a sanitation deployment plan under which every ward is to get 50 sanitation workers and three tractor-trolleys, amounting to about 1,800 workers and 108 tractor-trolleys citywide, aimed at door-to-door collection, road cleaning and special cleanliness drives before the festive peak.

F&CC role and sanitation numbers

F&CC membership matters because large tenders, rate contracts and budget reallocations typically pass through the panel before full House ratification. Gupta's unopposed entry closes the councillor-member gap that opened when Singh became deputy mayor and could not keep the same elected F&CC seat under the House's conflict rules.

The sanitation package is an outsourcing-and-deployment frame rather than a same-day hiring of 1,800 permanent staff. Officials said tractor-trolleys will support waste lifting and debris runs that handcarts cannot clear on wider sector roads. Ward-level rostering will decide which colonies see crews first once contracts and attendance systems are live.

Residents who have complained about irregular sweeping, especially in wards that flagged missing regular staff in recent weeks, now have a dated House decision to cite when they chase the zonal sanitation officer. Implementation, not the vote, will decide whether Diwali-week lanes actually look cleaner.

MCG publishes House outcomes, tenders and civic services through https://www.mcg.gov.in/. Property-tax and waste-related grievances can also be filed there. The 1 October result story is separate from the earlier resignation notice that only scheduled the poll.

Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya's administration still has to translate the 50-workers-per-ward math into attendance, vehicle GPS and complaint closure rates. Councillors pressed for measurable daily lifting, not only headcount on paper. Land and related civic measures discussed in the same sitting will surface in follow-up House papers as minutes are finalised.

For now, the public record is clear: Ashish Gupta is the new F&CC councillor-member from Ward 27, elected unopposed on 1 October, and the House has cleared a citywide sanitation worker and tractor-trolley template keyed to every ward.

Ward 27 residents who elected Gupta as councillor now have their representative inside F&CC when contract files for sanitation, street lighting and related works come up. That does not guarantee every local demand clears, but it puts a named ward voice on the panel that screens big spends.

Opposition and ruling-group councillors both backed the unopposed route once nominations settled, House managers said, to avoid a floor fight over a seat that needed filling the same day as the sanitation vote. Minutes will record the formal resolution numbers once the corporation secretariat uploads them to https://www.mcg.gov.in/.

Outsourced worker attendance has failed previous cleanliness drives when contractors marked ghost staff. Councillors asked for biometric or app-based muster linked to GPS on the tractor-trolleys so the 1,800 figure is not only a spreadsheet promise. Procurement timelines for those systems were left to the commissioner-level follow-up.
