Air India passengers arranging an overseas trip have a new travel-connectivity option, but the complimentary SIM offer comes with separate charges for roaming packs. Air India and Tata Communications announced EasyRoam on 8 October. The service is available through an Air India-branded website, with the airline's announcement identifying eSIM as the current purchase option.

The launch covers 30 countries and offers data-only or voice-and-data plans. Air India's announcement quotes packs from Rs 241, excluding taxes, with prices varying by destination. That starting figure should not be treated as the price of a particular holiday's connectivity or as a tax-inclusive checkout total.

What the live UK plan page shows

The UK destination page lists a 3GB data plan valid for five days at Rs 296, a 5GB seven-day plan at Rs 394 and a 15GB plan valid for 21 days at Rs 1,077. Displayed plan price as of 11 October 2026, 12:24 IST. These are public listing prices; the page inspected does not establish their tax-inclusive final payable amount.

For travellers who need conventional calls, the same page lists 5GB with 50 minutes for seven days at Rs 564, and 15GB with 100 minutes for 21 days at Rs 1,378. The selected data-only plan lists hotspot support and 5G or 4G access, while warning that territorial coverage can vary.

The UK listings attach different validity periods to different allowances, while add-ons are marked as available for the selected data-only plan. A destination-specific UK listing does not establish coverage for another country on the same itinerary. Air India's FAQ says regional and global plans work only in the destinations specified for that plan.

Welcome data and purchase-linked benefits

The current service terms specify 100MB of complimentary data for three days from activation for eligible Air India customers. This is limited to one promotional allocation per customer. Unused promotional data expires, cannot be transferred or converted to cash, and the operator reserves the right to change or withdraw the offer.

Air India's launch announcement separately advertises up to 1GB of additional complimentary data with a data-plan purchase, excluding Maldives and Mauritius. The smaller welcome allocation and the conditional larger benefit are separate claims, rather than a guaranteed combined entitlement. The applicable extra allowance depends on the selected purchase.

Eligibility is tied to Air India travel. Xtreme+ can request evidence of that eligibility, and the terms require a valid passport and successful identity verification. The introductory SIM-charge waiver does not remove the cost of a paid roaming pack. No published end date for the waiver was identified in the reviewed launch material.

Activation requires identity verification

The Air India service page describes selecting an activation date, signing in and purchasing, followed by an email containing the electronic Know Your Customer verification link. A QR code for installation follows verification. A purchase confirmation alone therefore does not establish that the connection is ready for use.

The phone must be network-unlocked and support the relevant SIM technology. Air India's FAQ says installing the travel connection does not automatically change the number already registered with WhatsApp. Its launch announcement says mobile-app purchasing will follow later; travellers can currently start through the website.

Xtreme+'s installation guide provides separate paths for Apple, Samsung, Google Pixel and other devices. Its Apple QR-code instructions start in Settings and Mobile Service, then Add eSIM. Those Apple menu instructions sit alongside separate manufacturer-specific installation paths on the operator's website.

Who handles support and refunds?

The terms name Vire Entterglobe Private Limited, operating as Xtreme+, as the seller and service provider, using connectivity infrastructure from Tata Communications or its affiliates. Air India acts as the marketing and referral partner. Activation, billing and service complaints go to Xtreme+.

The refund policy limits refunds to qualifying technical failures that support cannot reasonably resolve. A changed itinerary, wrong destination plan or incompatible phone generally does not qualify. Statutory consumer rights remain unaffected. The policy places responsibility for device compatibility with the customer and requires support to have an opportunity to resolve a reported fault.

Travellers comparing this separate travel connection with their regular mobile plan can read Dalimss News' coverage of Airtel's postpaid roaming eligibility and exit charges and Vi's bundled roaming plans. Those bundled offers have their own eligibility conditions and validity limits, which differ from a separately purchased travel connection.
