NEW DELHI: The Xiaomi 17T now opens at Rs 69,999 in India, according to Xiaomi's own store page, which is Rs 10,000 above the Rs 59,999 launch price the company announced on 4 June 2026. The phone has not changed. What has changed is what a buyer pays for the same Leica camera system, 6,500mAh battery and Dimensity 8500-Ultra chip, just ahead of the festive sale season.

What Xiaomi announced at launch

Xiaomi's launch post on its community site set the Xiaomi 17T at Rs 59,999 for 12GB plus 256GB and Rs 64,999 for 12GB plus 512GB. Sales opened on 10 June. Launch buyers were offered a Rs 5,000 bank discount or an equal exchange bonus, plus a buyback scheme, which brought the effective price below Rs 55,000 for those who qualified.

The Xiaomi India product page now shows "From Rs 69,999" for the phone. That entry price is the figure we can confirm from the company. We did not find a company note explaining the change, so check the checkout screen for any bank or exchange discount before you pay.

What you get for the money

The specification sheet is unchanged from launch. The phone has a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 3,500 nits of peak brightness. It runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra processor and ships with Xiaomi HyperOS 3 and HyperAI features.

The camera is the main reason to pay more. Xiaomi co-engineers the system with Leica and fits a triple rear setup that includes a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom and up to 120x AI Ultra Zoom. The battery is a 6,500mAh silicon-carbon cell with 67W wired charging. The phone is rated IP68 for dust and water resistance, and the front glass is Gorilla Glass 7i.

How to judge the new price

First, compare like for like. A Rs 5,000 bank offer on a Rs 69,999 phone leaves a Rs 64,999 effective price, which is still above the launch sticker. Ask whether the exchange bonus applies, and how much your old phone fetches elsewhere.

Second, wait for the festive pages. Amazon's Great Indian Festival begins on 8 October and Flipkart's Big Billion Days on 9 October, as we explained in our guide to both sales. Card discounts and exchange offers are common in these windows, but we have not seen an official Xiaomi 17T deal listed, so treat any claim as unconfirmed until it appears on the product listing.

Third, check the variant. The mi.com page shows the starting price only, and Xiaomi has not published a fresh 12GB plus 512GB figure in a form we can verify. If you want the larger storage, read the price at the variant selector, not in a social media post.

Finally, check the software promise. A higher price raises expectations on update support, so look for the commitment on the product page before you buy.

For now the verdict is simple. The Xiaomi 17T is the same phone with a bigger tag. Unless a sale brings the effective price back toward Rs 60,000, it is easier to wait than to buy this weekend.
