NEW DELHI: vivo has published its India rollout plan for OriginOS 7, the Android 17 based software it launched on 6 October. The first phones get it by the end of October 2026 and the last batch by the end of February 2027, according to the rollout chart on vivo's OriginOS 7 India release.
The new V80 and X Fold6 already ship with OriginOS 7. Everyone else waits for an over-the-air update, and the order follows price: flagship X-series phones first, then the V-series, with the S, T and Y lines last.
The full rollout schedule
End of October 2026: X Fold5, X300 Ultra, X300 Pro, X300 and X300 FE.
Mid November 2026: X200 Pro, X200, X200 FE and X200T.
Mid December 2026: X Fold3 Pro, X100 Pro and X100 in the X-series, plus V70 Elite, V70, V70 FE, V60 and V60e.
End of December 2026: V50 and V50e.
End of January 2027: V40 Pro and V40, S2 and S2 FE, the T5 Pro 5G, T5 5G, T5x 5G, T4 Ultra, T4 Pro, T4 5G, T4R 5G and T3 Ultra, and the Y51 Pro 5G.
End of February 2027: V40e, V30 Pro, V30 and V30e, the Y400 Pro 5G, Y400 5G and Y31 Pro 5G, and the T4x 5G.
vivo's chart carries a note that the plan does not apply to carrier-exclusive models, which carriers decide themselves. The release also says feature availability can vary by model, software version and region, so an older phone may not get every OriginOS 7 tool even after the update lands.
One detail stands out. The S2 FE, which vivo launched on the same day, comes with OriginOS 6 and is only in the January 2027 batch. Buyers of that phone should expect to wait about three months after its 20 October sale for the new software. The V80, by contrast, is the first V-series phone with OriginOS 7 out of the box, a point vivo had trailed before launch, as covered in our V80 launch date report.
What changes when the update arrives
vivo's headline features are about smoothness and AI. Fluid Motion and Spring Animation rework animations across more than 200 scenarios, and the Origin Smooth Engine is meant to keep the phone quick as it ages, with a new memory allocation and reclamation approach to reduce fragmentation.
On AI, the Jovi 6 assistant can read and summarise files, run scheduled tasks and work across a connected phone and PC. Snap Note turns photos of whiteboards, handwritten notes and slides into editable documents. AI Search lets you describe a file you remember instead of typing its exact name. AI Recorder offers speaker recognition and summaries with templates for meetings, lectures and interviews, and Smart Call Assistant can answer calls for you and summarise them in the call log.
For sharing, Shake and Share sends files to other brands' phones without mobile data, and Office Kit links a vivo phone with a PC for file transfer, notes and using the phone as a webcam. A new Security Shield covers apps, links, USB connections, spam calls and insecure Wi-Fi.
Multitasking tools such as Origin Workbench and four-window split screen are the most visible on the X Fold6. vivo's material ties some of these features to specific hardware, so do not assume a mid-range phone will get all of them.
Before you update
Major Android updates are large downloads that change system apps, so back up your photos, chats and contacts first and update on Wi-Fi with the battery above half. Our phone backup and reset checklist covers the backup steps in more detail.
The X300 FE is in the first batch, while the S2 waits until January 2027. That may matter if you are deciding whether to buy one of these older models on sale now. Our report on vivo store prices for the X300 FE and S2 has their current listings.
Updates usually arrive in stages, so one person in a family may get OriginOS 7 days before another on the same model. If your phone is in the October batch and nothing has arrived by the first week of November, check Settings for a manual software update. We will update this list if vivo adds or moves models.
