Viral Video Controversy: Rupali Chakankar Ne Diya Resignation

Rupali Chakankar, the former chairperson of the Maharashtra State Commission for Women, has resigned from her post following a major controversy over viral photos and videos circulating on social media.
In the viral visuals, Chakankar was seen with Nashik-based astrologer and self-proclaimed godman Ashok Kharat. The images allegedly showed her performing a ritual in which she appeared to wash the godman’s feet, sparking widespread criticism and debate online.
The incident triggered political and public reactions, with many questioning the conduct of a senior official holding an important position related to women’s rights and welfare.
Following the backlash and growing pressure after the videos surfaced, Chakankar decided to step down from her role as the chairperson of the commission.
