Violence at Sonbhadra Toll Plaza: Advocate Aarti Pandey’s Family Assaulted After Dispute, 2 Arrested

Violence broke out at the Lodhi Toll Plaza in Uttar Pradesh’s Sonbhadra district after an argument between toll staff and a family traveling through the checkpoint escalated into an alleged assault. The incident involved advocate Aarti Pandey, who was traveling with her family at the time.

According to the complaint filed with police, the family had been waiting at the toll plaza for more than 10 minutes. When Aarti Pandey questioned the delay, a verbal exchange reportedly took place between her and toll employees. The situation soon escalated, with toll workers allegedly stepping out of their booths, abusing the family, and physically attacking them.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that multiple family members were beaten and pushed to the ground during the altercation. Three people sustained injuries in the incident, including a woman whose condition is said to be serious. The injured were provided medical treatment following the clash.

Police registered a case soon after receiving the complaint and launched an investigation. Authorities confirmed that two toll plaza employees have been arrested in connection with the incident. Officials said further inquiry is underway to establish the full sequence of events and identify the involvement of any additional persons.

The incident has raised concerns over safety and conduct at toll plazas, with local residents calling for strict action and improved monitoring to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
