Vasant Panchami to Be Celebrated on January 23 in Varanasi

VARANASI: The auspicious festival of Vasant Panchami, dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, will be celebrated on January 23, 2026, marking the arrival of spring and the celebration of knowledge and arts.

According to Prof. Bihari Lal Sharma, VC of Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, the Magh Shukla Panchami Tithi begins at 2:29 AM on January 23 and will remain effective until 1:46 AM on January 24. Based on the Udaya Tithi (sunrise rule), the festival will be observed on January 23. The most auspicious window for Saraswati Puja and Vidyarambh (initiating education) is from 07:56 AM to 01:59 PM on January 23. This year, the festival coincides with the Sun in Capricorn (Makar) and Moon in Pisces (Meen), along with Purva Bhadrapada Nakshatra and Shiva Yoga, creating a highly beneficial alignment for intellectual pursuits.
