If you are a voter in Uttar Pradesh, especially in Varanasi, this update is important for you. Under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls, the Election Commission has intensified efforts to help citizens verify their voter details and protect their voting rights.

As part of this initiative, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will be available at all polling booths on January 18, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, in mission mode. Voters can visit their respective booths to check their names in the draft electoral roll. Along with the draft list, booths will also display names of voters marked as absent, shifted, deceased, or duplicate, allowing people to identify and correct any issues on the spot.

To make the process easier, the Election Commission has ensured that Form 6 (for new voter registration), Form 7 (for deletion), and Form 8 (for correction or modification) will be available at all booths in adequate numbers. Eligible citizens can apply for name inclusion, correction of details, or raise objections directly at the booth itself. Election officials have been instructed to ensure timely presence of BLOs and smooth facilitation for voters.

The response to the SIR process has been significant so far. In the last 24 hours alone, over 55,000 applications were submitted for voter registration across the state. Since the release of the draft voter list on January 6, more than 3.43 lakh citizens have applied to be included. The Election Commission has urged all voters to verify their names at the earliest and complete the required process within the stipulated timeline to ensure that their right to vote remains secure.
